    Solution for your woes.

    1. Get a Hustler Fastrak or MiniFastrak depending on your yard size.
    2. Don sunglasses, place water bottle in cupholder.
    3. Fire it up, sit back and enjoy the ride.

OPTIONAL, but recommended. Fire up a nice stogie to enjoy while mowing.

I used to DESPISE mowing before the Hustler. Now I look forward to it.

I pay $70 per month for 2 mows during season.

If I mow myself then I am sick for like 2 days.

Jeez. I'm starting a "lawn care" business when I move back to the states. Sounds like free money! And no, I wouldn't be doing any actual mowing myself.

Seriously, what kind of acreage are we talking for $40 to mow?

Dr. Uro, did you always mow your own yard, or just since you retired?

Hey, I do all the cooking here. Meals for the last week:

Chicken Tikka Masala: $3, fed us for two nights
Burgers: $1 for the both of us
    Spaghetti Bolognese: $2
Thai Red Curry: $3 for two nights
Ribeyes: $6 for one meal, really splashed out

Dinner for two for a week: $15. And it was all DELICIOUS!

We have this great service called Peapod where they deliver groceries. It saves a lot of time. My wife was spending an hour + doing the shopping. Now we just click on the list of items purchased in the past and knock it out in 5 min.

Plus - no car dings from the nuts in the parking lot.

    Lessee:

    Chicken Tikka Masala:
    1 lb chicken: $1.50
Garlic, ginger, onion: $0.50 for all three
Coriander, cumin, cinnamon, cardamom, bay leaf, etc: $0.25 for all
Basmati rice (and not the cheap stuff, premium basmati rice): $0.25
    Tomatoes: $0.50

I actually learned to make it off the TV when I was on vacation in Cyprus. It's now my showcase dish.

    Burgers:
    1/2 lb ground beef: $0.75
    Buns: $0.25

    Spaghetti Bolognese:
the other 1/2 lb of ground beef: $0.75
    Onions, garlic: $0.10
    1/4 lb fresh mushrooms: $0.60

etc, etc, blah blah. You really can cook good meals for a dollar a head. It's not hard. Like anyplace else, if you insist on eating what you always ate at home, it's expensive. Adapt a bit to local availability and you save a lot of money. Yeah, I occasionally treat myself to Hormel chili at $2.50 a can, and I appreciate it all the more for paying such an extravagant price for it.

And yes, you're all invited to dinner any time you get to Dubai! The booze cabinet is well-stocked, and a good time will be had by all.

Not a chance. In all seriousness, I expect any Fchatter, or any friend of an Fchatter, to look me up if they visit Dubai. Last year a guy I knew only on a bulletin board had a friend coming to Dubai, and asked for advice about what to see. We met him for dinner and showed him around, and we all enjoyed the evening. It's not like lots of Americans get here. As often as I can I arrange a lunch or dinner for USN and USAF personnel stationed here.

You do all that? I thought you had able-bodied teenagers in the house. Maybe I'm thinking of someone else.
