Is it possible to remove the distributor rotor cam end plug while still in the engine?
It looks like you would take a drift and remove the pin and it should come out. Is the holding pin accessible on a qv head?

    thanks

We replaced them all the time under warranty in the 328's TR's and Mond. 3.2.

    I don't know why you can't in a 3.0 QV.

All the replacements I have seen for several years are not drilled so it needs to be carefully clocked and drilled in the cam, then removed, cleaned up and installed.

It also acts as an oil plug for the cam so it will need sealant on it when it goes in.

    It's actually a 3.2.
So I understand you can with the cam still in the head - many thanks!

FWIW, my notes show that the 4 valve had two different pins, a 3mm and a 5mm. The 5mm was a tad closer to the cam, so the pin to end measurement is very close. In either case it is removable as was said. I would think the non drilled plugs would be to insure that they didn't sell the wrong one, ergo, a 3mm for a car that turns out to be a 5.

No, they were drilled to save us time in the warranty repairs. As soon as the warrantee was up on the cars they quit going to the expense of drilling them.
That is not supposition on my part. They told us that.
