Is anyone at Homestead today? The orientation for the Challenge series started today and goes on tomorrow with the qualifying and the race this weekend. If anyone is there it would be great to see pictures and get qualifying and race results. The new F430 Challenge cars looks awsome. Anyone want to help sponsor a car???

Ouch. What were the 360 times from last year for comparison?

When I talked with past top drivers of this event, they all said the 360's where in the low to mid 1.30's. They also stated that this group should be faster by the time they qualify. This is there first time in the car.

Were they driving the same Homestead layout that Rolex Grand Am does?

GT3 Cup cars are runing low 1:20's for comparison with full pro drivers.

I am actually surprised. That is not alot faster than the 360s, unless the track has changed. The 360s had their introduction at Homestead in 2000 and did 1:30s in qualifing and 1:31s in race.

The top three 360s in the Saturday race did 1:31.185, 1:31:569, 1:31:659.....yours truly did 1:34.184.

Remember this too was our intro to the 360 Challenge and perhaps represents a great comparision to the 430 intro

ps - the time of 1:30.756 was set by a driving instructor....as I remember it at least

    update -

Here is the qualifing session for the 360 Challenge at Homestead. Fyi - we only had one race on Saturday. I think we were rained out Sunday.

    Fastest time here is 1:30.468

This was the first time that the drivers even saw their 430 let alone drive it. Not like the 360's that they had some time in before Homestead. They are still learning the equipment. Time will get better as the season goes on.

Race times where in the 1.29's with Emanule coming in first on Saturday and Third on Sunday (after leading all but the last half of the last race) He spun in turn 7. He will tell you that it was brain fade.

Doug Peterson came in 2nd in the Saturday event and first in the Sunday event..

Two 430's gone with a number of finders and bumpers on about four others.

oh hey Bruce! those other lucky 360 owners may have had some experience behind the wheel in 2000...I went there with 1 set of wheels with mounted street tires and no experience!

I'm hoping someone else will be posting more picts and times soon!
