    Welcome to Ferrarichat.com

You may want to do a quick search as the 348 aircon control unit problem has happened to quite a few people.
Any air con bod can recharge the gas.....as long as it has the later system installed otherwise you may need to change a few bits out

Ps could you please fill out your profile a bit, just your first name and a rough idea where you are would be good :)

----Sorry Phil for highjacking your thread :D ------------- try taking the CCU out of the dash and cleaning the contacts with electronic contact cleaner (maplin or halfords sell it, but stabilant 22 is the best)

Start by hooking a couple of gauges onto the AC charge ports (friendly garage should help) what you're looking for here is an indication that the system is charged... If you've got pressure say a couple of bar, then you need to look at the control systems.

Be careful as this falls into black art teritory. Most AC bods can squirt a couple of kilos of R134a into your system but if they have to go trouble shooting it can get expensive very quickly....

    :D

Now as for recharging the system. The first thing you will need to check is if there are leaks in the system. There is no sence in chraging the system if you have leaks. Then you will need to figure out if you have R12 freon in it or R134. You cannot mix the two so you will need to know what kind you have in the system. This thread from the old site has some very good info in it about R134. http://70.85.40.84/~ferrari/discus/messages/256120/105688.html

Mine's dead as well, but I suspect a leak in the system.

    1) when you press the a/c button you should here the compressor clutch cut in. (located o/s bottom front of engine). If it doesn't suspect low pressure.

    2) you can bypass the low pressure switch , (plug is near the drier unit in the pictures above -2nd picture down next to the white bottle) and see if it cuts in.

Anyway, its always cold in the UK, and on the rare warm days, just take the roof off.
