Left my car running in the garage for a minute while I went to grab something. When I got back the driver's side door had locked itself. Got a little nervous. Ran around to the other side and passenger side was unlocked.

Any comments on this? (other than don't leave your car running unattended :))

I've got no ego in this. ;)

Seriously - why on earth would the driver's side door lock itself, but the passenger one stay unlocked!!

Was your garage built on an ancient Indian burial ground?

    Actually Tim,

I flew down locked your door and flew back to see if you would post a thread. I forgot the passenger side - next time...

    Ok - Now I truly wish I hadn't asked ;).

I admit my stupidity publicly so that all can benefit from one anothers' wisdom, but now I get Indian burial ground! You are all too cruel.

At any rate, thank God the passenger side opened up!!

Don't feel bad. When I first bought my Ram I took it to the dump and left it running. After unloading all the brush and leaves, I went back up front to find the doors were locked. It used up about a quarter of a tank of gas while I was waiting for my wife to come bail me out. At least you were at home and without that smell only a dump can give off.

It has nothing to do with Italian electrics of which there is precious little in the car anyway. It is mechanical in nature. It's a simple case of the lock/latch mechanisim being out of adjustment and needing to be put right.

The electrical problems in late model Ferrari's are all German in origin anyway.

I always make sure to roll down the driver side window when leaving a car running. I'm paranoid about the door locking for some reason, and leaving me stranded.

I did that once, locked out with the car running, about to run out of fuel and overheating (Fan on a manual switch which was off at the time) and the spare key which was on my house keys in the car. I had to smash my window with a brick. Loads of fun.
