It's not listed as a Speciale, but it is #5 of 15 for '94, the last year the did it. I know because it's mine....

 

The horse power on these is still 320 right?

Seems really pricey. There is/was one for sale at Downers Grove Bentley for mid 50's. Red/tan '93, I think ts. There is also a '93 tb with 5500 miles for $70,000 on cars.com

 

$70,000USD for a TB?? Ill sell you my 95 Spider for less then that.

Some additional info: first the price is to high as was said before this is '94 which means it is one of the 15 produced(late 348 serial No. 98...) and doesnt have all the SS parts no front spoiler and no kevlar sport seats which may or may not be important to you, personally I think both are because of the uniqueness of the SS and it parts that appear on the '93 cars. Also the US cars in '93-'95 had 312 hp. Regards, Vern

 

the spiders , i enjoy , but they are less race like feeling ,more of a chick car ,for the beach . TS is a good compromise as they dont feel as girlie. besides the spiders messes up my hair ...lol

 

are you referring that it is missing the kevlar seats , and front lip spoiler ? because it is my understanding that most of the 94's had the reg seats and no lip.

 

The "Frau" seat (non kevlar) was an option on the SS. All SSs got the lip spoiler (to my knowledge). That car does not appear to have the wider rear track of the SS. See if they will send you a picture of the VIN plate on the door sill, and maybe even the "348" plaque on the radio cover, if it is an SS it will say "348 Special".

 

Hi Darren, I should have phrased that better. I didn't mean to infer that this car was "missing parts". I knew that alot of the '94 SS's didn't have the seats or lip. I was more or less stating that I prefer the '93s over the '94s(I would even prefer not to have a '93 if it didn't have the seats) because the factory didn't include all the SS parts on the 94's. That's not a complaint just a personal taste observation. If a person wanted a true SS than a '93 might be a better choice (again my personal opinion which does't mean crap when its not my money). I just happen to like the uniquiness of the seats and frt. lip. Regards, Vern

 

The seat option was actually the reverse, you could opt out on the kevlar seats. The standard 348 seat was actually the "optional" seat. The 15 '94s didn't always have the lip or the seats. You are correct though on the lip for '93s they all had that. Also correct on the rear wheels they are the narrower, not in width but offset, 89-92 wheel probably factory original and not changed. It wouild be interesting to know how many '94 SS's came with newer wheels. The '94 challenge cars also came with the older offset wheel but, IIRC the '94-'95 spyders came with the newer offset wheel. It appears Ferrari was trying to clean out the parts stock on the 348 stuff ie; use up what we have, mix and match. Regards, Vern

 

Interesting, I am always glad to learn new things. I didn't realize that tha later wheels were actually a different size than the '89-'92s. I though they just put in spacers. In my research on the 348 and SS in particular (when I was shopping for one), I noticed that the pleat pattern on the headrests of the "Frau" seat is different than that of the standard 348 seat. I thought it was an anomely (sp?) on the car I was looking at, perhaps a re-apholster, but then I noticed it on a couple other SSs.

 

The seats went from the early 89 style to the more typical seat you will find in a 90-92 to the SS carbon Fiber in the 93 and then back to the style of the 90-92 seats. It is like the seat designer had AADHD (adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder).
