    This sounds like that same old bunk story that's been going around on the net for years. Person dies in their apartment and isn't found until years later. Sounds like something that would be on Snopes.com.
    Did this UK newspaper get duped? Or are they just passing along more tabloid garbage taken from the internet?

    Hm.. sounds phoney to me. I just don't believe that anyone wouldn't barge in after a couple months of not receiving a payment on rent. What about family? Friends? Didn't anyone think or care to stop by? That would be the most awful thing though.

    That happened to a friend of my mom's, they found him dead in his chair in front of the tv. :(

    Sounds plausible. They don't turn off utilities for unpaid bills? No friends wondering where she is or anyone checking up on her? The smell of decomposition not alerting neighbors? If all these things fell through the cracks then it's possible.

    Isn't it also possible with the automatic bill pay systems in effect that the rent and utilities could be payed for at least a year in an apartment?

    ...and decades in a house?

    There are also unsubstantiated rumors that some F-Chat posters no longer meet the definition of 'alive,' at least based on standards involving brain wave activity, yet they keep posting. I don't find this story absurd in the least. :)

    True life Weekend at Bernies 3, probably had several visitors that never noticed. cat was probably upset for a week or so.
