not very profesional to see all this plastics on car ...for 1.5M$ my Audi cames in better conditions.
No kidding You are right. I think Audi had the best "delivery covers" It looks like a massive jump suit complete with zippers. Could also be re-used for the next Audi. Pretty impressive actually.
Don Wallace, the owner of Lazy Days RV Resort and Dealership in Tampa, has an FXX. He displayed it at the Festivals of Speed in St. Petersburg in Febuary. He also owns the #400 Enzo which was previously owned by Pope John Paul II till his death. Ferrari built and gave the car to the Pope as a gift. Wallace bought the car from the vatican for $1.1mil, and all the $$ went to charity. Here is Enzo 400
Wrong. Enzo #400 (S/N 141920) was NEVER owned by Pope John Paul II. He didn't even take delivery. And Wallace did NOT buy it from the vatican. The car remained at the factory and was sold by the factory on 28 June 2005 during the Sotheby's at Ferrari's auction in Fiorano to Wallace. The hammer price was US$ 950'000. The money went to charity. Marcel Massini
Marcel, seeing as I spoke with Wallace himself at the Festival of Speed in St. Petersburg, FL, and the fact that Montezomelo (probably spelled wrong) autographed the underside of the front cover and dedicated the car to the Pope specifically in that underside of the hood, makes me see otherwise. Wallace has a site, supercarsofflorida.com, check it out.
Marcel is partially correct. The car wasn't ever delivered to Pope John Paul II, there was a 1:5 model presented to him in January 2005 of the F2004 F1 car then they later announced they would donate an Enzo which would go towards the Tsunami relief. Pope John Paul II passed away before the car made it to auction. Marcel is wrong about the price, however. The car sold for 950,000 euros, equating to $1,274,229 US.
As stated previously by Marcel and Townshend, Enzo #400 (s/n 141920) was most certainly NEVER owned by Pope John Paul II. The story of this car was well published in several Ferrari magainzes at the time, which I do not have handy at the moment, but I'm sure some others do. -Jarrett
Enzo #400, as said earlier, was never owned by the pope. It was simply a fantastic marketing job done by Ferrari. Imagine: 1. To build an additional Enzo does not cost much to them. 2. Associate the pope as a "godfather" to sell it more as it's "normal" value 3. After the sale, it looks as if Ferrari was given 950'000 Euros for charity, but in fact it costed them the factory price Conclusion: they made a kind of profit by payin only a portion of the 950'000 Euros check and they gave a good image of Ferrari by participating to Tsunami charity and by associating the pope.
