While on my pathetic commute last night in the rain, I started thinking....
Thinking about how someone invented little reflectors on the freeway, stuck em on the floor and we all abide by them. I was wondering who invented these reflectors.....Hey give a guy a break, I was trying to stay awake. The commute was 2 hours again.

When you got the wrong way on the freeway they turn red!

There was a story a while back about these things flying up and hitting cars, one went through an oil pan. That state was going to stop using and go with something different IIRC.

Not much of a story - Growing up I used to frequently drive a newly-built stretch of highway (73 toll road) where the CHP probably collected about 75% of their revenue. It goes without saying, the road was quite straight and almost completely empty, so I spent a lot of time looking in my rearview for the 5-O while watching what was infront of me via peripherial vision.

It probably depends on the state and the age of the lane-indicator-reflectors, but I know that much of southern California has white/red lane indicators. I assume it is for truck drivers, incase they fall asleep and drive across the medium
