Has FChat been more boring over the last two weeks?

  1. No change in my opinion

  2. It's been OK, but not as fun as a month ago

  3. With the new rules, I don't visit as much

  4. I miss the good 'ol days'

  5. Ban Pete for posting this!

  6. Undecided

I'm going to bed. I just noticed the hour and I have to be up in four hours for work. I may look wasted in the morning but it will just be from lack of sleep. My lack of maturity....... Good night ya'll.

OK, jr high. Same, less cars.
Yep, that kid is focked at 18yo. Killed 2 and ruined family driving wrong way on I-10 in AM rush hour after partying all night. Never made it to college. Don't end up that way, OK?
Go to bed. Us old fockers need to argue some more. :)

You just happened to be here to illustrate my point. I am a father and I don't appreciate having to read these stories. I never have. Continual references to drug abuse and suicide are far more offensive than 5's and Esses!

Its a shame the old and boring don't know any better!

Looks like the big boys went to sleep and the young kids are still up having fun with each other (this is a joke).

I'm not sure if this thread will continue since the last 2 pages are just an inside conversation between 3-4 users, but if anyone still wants to talk about the issues I could try a reply.

You guys are focusing on the wrong aspects of Dale's post. But I'm sure you both know this anyway, some of you are successful enough (I'm going to go ahead and make the connection to smartness here) to realize the point of his post without taking 2 sentences and attempting to crucify him for them.

Look, what is the point in even fighting this battle? Some people like participating in the kinds of threads that are now supposed to go in the PG-13 section, and some people like more serious threads. Do we really have to fight about it? What is the point in grown men arguing like 12 year olds on the playground about what kind of posts should be made and where?

Some of the people involved in these discussions are among the most well-known and (at times) best contributors to the community. Why get into these petty self-righteous fights that are just going to cause people to leave F-Chat forever?

Nice signature, you are probably an excellent father - you must relate perfectly with your children.

(Disclaimer: Joke about your signature, not about your parenting ability and/or family)

We're not focusing on the 'wrong' aspects of his post, just the holier-than-thou tone.

Being older does not necessarily instill you with values above someone younger- MY point is that while I completely understand his concerns I simply do not need the preaching. I've lived a life that (while an ongoing process) has endured many up's and down's and has largely been one big learning experience.. he might not admit it, but I could probably teach Dale some things about life. :D

Why do we fight? Because it's a principal-- If we didn't challenge ideas we really wouldn't be living.

And BTW, Darth is an excellent father. Anyone who has spent any time with him completely understands where his priorities are.

    Back to the original question:

Did Rob's actions over the last two weeks put F-Chat in a slump?

No, but there's a few bedwetters who tried to make that happen by way of the ol' "divide and conquer" routine.

    Fine, let's try again:

Why are all the options in your poll negative?

What is the issue with using the BackRoom Lounge for these types of threads?

Do you not acknowledge that there may be divergent interests here on this board which all need to be balanced?

Understand that I don't care about this topic all that much. I like those types of theads and subject, to be honest. HOWEVER, this debate isn't about that. For me, it's about showing Rob respect for the job he's doing and understanding how thin that tighrope is that he's treading upon. You guys aren't showing any respect for that, and THAT'S what irritates me. He didn't have to create the BL, he did that to accomodate you, and you throw that back in his face.

Anyway, that's all from me on this. I'm going driving. Enjoy your new playgrounds.

As soon as I read the word "funnest" in the first post I got a headache and couldn't read any further.

If you want to talk about ferraris stick around and if you want to look at boobs there are better places to go. The only problem is you don't have the excuse, I wasn't looking at porn honey, I spend all my time at F-chat.

Actually the principal in Ferris was a convicted child sex offender.

And Tillman, I brought up several points that need addressing, not necessarily by you, but they are issues here. I agree there are divergent interests here that don't need to be homogenized, but they also don't need a sandbox either, as well-intentioned as it was. FWIW. I'm just a pot-stirrer.

Pete's poll was well intentions and if you look at the results drew specific comments. The balance of the poll and the attack on Dale were pure male bovine crap. Dale tells great stories, captures the essence of the 60s, in a very humors way. I understand Darth's comment about not wanting his kid to read this, but on the other hand, parents need to control (at least while they are young teens) their kids reading. So, maybe Dale needs to post this in a place on the site where kids can't go.

So, my comments to Dale is: don't stop the stories, the provide some flavor to the discussion. As to those that don't like what he's saying, put him on your ignore list, and your kids won't see his posts. Easy solution.
