Has FChat been more boring over the last two weeks?

  1. No change in my opinion

  2. It's been OK, but not as fun as a month ago

  3. With the new rules, I don't visit as much

  4. I miss the good 'ol days'

  5. Ban Pete for posting this!

  6. Undecided

You posted one, not me. Jeffrey Jones.
I didn't say it, you implied I did
He needs to get a clue, not you. Playing the gullible is not what an attorney should do. And even if it was a joke, it was not "straight and narrow"
Too late is my point, and some of the wrong rules
As we are, but I am arguing method and timing, not intent.
I don't want to "act out", nor did I say I wanted to.
It is, but assaulting me for taking advantage of hapless waifs was way OTT.
Many have been there for awhile, and are selectively enforced by some.
Then why did you use the example?
Guess you never watch TV, or have been to any low income neighborhoods lately? SOP there. Never said we shouldn't set good example, I tried to do so the other night with Zupra, who is a 14yo jr high kid here, now.
Misanthropic, yes, but insensitive to millions dead has no excuse. EVER. If you think otherwise, then yes, that would make one a Nazi.
    No Joke, no smilie.
I was telling Ryan to get a clue. The sucker is not the one on the slippery slope, the player is.

    Semantic-Chat...there's an idea.

It's late, but you must be confusing me with someone else. Where did I ever make light of sex offenders?

I have not been a fan of that. Which is why I am glad Rob has made it clear what will happen from now on.
To illustrate that there is a time and a place for everything and that those boundaries are clear to some, unclear to others.
    Look where I live.

I just don't take a lot of what he says seriously.
Obviously, lol. You were clearly talking about a snowball effect of sorts. No confusion there. I was simply saying that while you may think Ryan is falling off, I said the only person to actually fall was the sucker for actually getting that annoyed with the situation.
    Brilliant, let's do it!

My reference was to Ed Rooney. NOT the actor playing him.

Similiarly, the person above me posted a picture of Principal Skinner, I doubt he was referring to the actor who does his voice.

The pic I posted is from Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Where the Ed Rooney plays Ferris' school principal.
Maybe the reference wasn't as clear as I thought, but most seemed to have gotten it.

The effect would have been the same had I posted a pic of a scence from 'Breakfast Club'.
The point? Making light of a sex offender was never at play. Rightly so.

    I think Sfumato's got a key point.

I actually like it better now as I can go to the Backroom when I feel like it and I don't have to worry about popping up a surprise photo in front of my wife, but I can understand why there's confusion and resentment too. Whatever the rules that were stated, the enforcement was, in practice, at a different level. Before the Backroom existed, there were intermittent discussions about some of the more raw threads/posts on the site, an assortment of changes were suggested and nothing was ever done (implying changes weren't necessary)!

Consistency really is an issue here. One of the ways you get a problem dog or child is to reward, ignore and then punish them, in turn, for the same behaviors. It's not like a whole bunch of people suddenly went over the edge and forced the issue. Everyone was behaving pretty much as they had been for months or more. In fact there was a thread with photos of mods and others with signs and fingers floating around just a few weeks ago. If it really mattered that much, why wasn't this level of enforcement always the norm or changes enacted when the discussions came up?

It's like having a lonely road outside town that's occasionally patrolled by the police. For years the police have allowed car enthusiasts to drive up and down at speeds well over the marked limit, sometimes even joining them. Then suddenly tickets get issued left and right, cars are impounded, people put in jail, etc. No real warning; no known triggering incident. Yes, it was always against the law to exceed the speed limit, so no warning was needed. But the friendlier thing to do is to have some kind of transition period. Restate the rules, issue warnings on where the new limit is for the next 30 days, then enforce for real. Also, do it consistently and don't make people out to be bad guys while you're doing it.

I think this is the misconception going on now, but not the reality of what happened. There was hardly any enforcement and there was nothing on FerrariChat before that isn't allowed now, just a new location. Darth was banned a day because he had been banned about circumventing the censor system before. TexasMike was only banned because he posted a couple over the edge pictures in a thread we were talking about not posting over the edge pictures! BigAl's ban? Other users were simply warned and several hundred threads have been moved.

No big deal from this side. If the other side feels they need some more public attention over nothing, then go ahead. Religious avatars, new websites, public attacks, and all. Get it out of your system.

Man, I read this whole thing, can I have that part of my life back???

Not much to say actually, as you cannot legislate common sense...nor personal decorum.

That's what has brought our country to where it is today, actually, where it will NOT be, tomorrow.

Well done, Zupra.......Lee you have PM.

John, save some cigars, we got as far as Baton Rouge on April 1, no foolin'!
You should SEE Franco's new place! Of course, I didn't see the old one......

I'd post some pics, Stevef but...you know......

    Good night, all!

I still have a couple that were set aside for you for the 2005 French Quarter Classic! Looks like you will be in for a treat when the 2006 FQC rolls around :)

As for Franco, I'll have to pay him a visit and see what crazy things he has to say ;)

    Don't be a stranger!

The party crowds of LSU parted like the Red Sea, as the World's Fastest Art Car rolled into town...the Sheraton left it right out front, all night! ;)

I've lost my gig in Houston, maybe I can become a drummer in Congo Square!

Personally, I think that people who are offended by Off Topic, should stay out of the Off Topic.

It is good to have two off-topics. One for genuine off topic non political discussions and the PG13 one for immature fun stuff. But they both need to be in the unsubscribed section. So one has to be moved from subscribed.

It was said that some "potential" members were turned away by the immaturity of the off-topic. This is just silly, chasing some one post a month stiffs that would not even subscribe, as opposed to creating a genuine community.

Even tho' I agree that running away from the forum because of one subforum is silly, I think it'd be nice to allow members (at least subscribed ones) to ignore an entire subforum with a user panel setting. Don't know whether the coding of the board allows for that.

Is that necessary considering you don't even have to open that forum? Seems a little excessive, but whatever floats your boat!

Are there some posts missing from last night? This kind of crap never happened before. Rob always stated nothing will be deleted. And now this all the time.
