My 512BB is consistently blowing the instrument fuse. It takes about 2 minutes and then it blows.

I realize this is probably a short somewhere, but are there any obvious places or known weak areas to check?

Also, does that fuse control the thermostat for the cooling fans?

It could also be that the brass fuse holder for that circuit is loose and should be sodered.

    May want to check.

I had to soder my fan circuits from behind the fuse rack.

Cooling fans are controled setperately. They are the far right two fuses I believe on the left side, but could be on the right side bank. Your operating manual will show as will the label on the fuse covers.

Thanks! I verified that it does not control the fans, as they came on while I was pulling into my garage this afternoon.

When it blows feel all the fuse connections top and bottom and see if they are hot, if another is hot trace the wire.

For a fuse to get hot its typically a short somewhere check and trace the wiring, could be in the instruments as well.
