My battery has been on the way out for some time, and has finally died completely. In an ideal world i would get Verdi to replace it, but as a) they are always booked out for weeks b) i don't have the time to take it there anyway, can anyone advise of somehwere in beds/bucks/herts that they would trust to replace it on short notice, ideally whilst i wait? I'm guessing as it's a wheel off job that your average kwik-fit is not a good idea?

Off the top of my head DK Engineering at Watford comes to mind - how busy they are may be a different matter.

Cheers for the feedback folks. I am complete mechanical numpty, so no chance of me doing it myself. However if it's fairly straightforward then i see no reason why my local garage couldn't do it under my supervision.......assuming they have the correct battery. Are these Optima batteries fairly easy to get hold off?

They aren't the cheapest but they are the best, type in optima battery in the f-chat search, you will see good reviews, here is a link to where I got mine, they were the cheapest I could get, retail is around £155 normally, go for the 4.2 over the 3.7 litre

Try to have them jack the car up evenly using the correct points, and not to chip too much chrome of your wheel bolts (good places have a special 22mm sockets that protect the chrome).

OK, before i hit the buy button, the Optima 4.2 type 34 redtop is the battery i need? There aren't different variations for different cars/Fcars?

Hi, I have one on my Mondial and it is perfect, there are a few on here who have fitted them to 328's, I am pretty sure most ferraris use the same battery, there are a few on here who could verify exactly, you could always post a thread in the modern section

    Thanks again Nitrousferrari

I had a look on the modern section and the red top 34 looks to be the one, however, now i'm confused if i need the 34, or 34R (reverse post), as both are mentioned in the various posts!

Dealer supplied - £150 inc VAT. Saw it as cheap as £120 on the web, but happy to pay the extra to avoid the agro!

I know what you mean, sometimes its worth paying a few more quid and having somewhere to go back to if you have any problems

one thing thats best with these batteries is to invest in a top up charger or a tender as they call it in the states, especially if you aren't going to use it frequently, these are normally around £39, well worth it to avoid any further hassles, good luck & happy motoring ;-)
