My '86 328 has recently delveloped the 3.2 L low rpm syndrome so after searching the archives I decided to remove the gauges send the tach for rebuild and upgrade the instument lights.
I was able to get the steering wheel off with no problem. Same with 3 of the 4 corner lights in front of the mounting screw. However the fourth one "battery charge light" would not come out. I tried everything I could think of from dental floss to a small vise grips. The housing would rotate a few degrees in either direction but it woulg not come forward.
I would appreciate any thougth / suggestions on how to get this one out.

You may have to break the housing off. The housings have a couple of plastic tabs that expand into the hole to keep them in place. Sounds like one of the tabs has gotten itself on the back side of the hole.

While some of the lamps are readily available, I'm not sure the battey one is. The housings are interchangeable & avail from TRutlands & others, but be careful not to break the colored lens.
