I purchased this 365 from a fellow F-chatter and got some pictures from when it had begun its restoration in the late 80's. My goal is to get the car finished and back on the road. Take a look at the sign in the background, it might be appropriate for all vintage Ferrari owners:).

Somewhere in there hides a beautiful car.

I've always felt the 365 GT 2+2 is somewhat underrated as far as genuine Ferrari's go.

Looks like it has to be one of the most fun puzzles I have ever seen. Keep it up and get that thing on the road. Good luck

You're missing a digit - it should be 5 digits. My guess is 13115.

Did you just buy the car from Steve Huck? That looked like a nice deal.

Greg are you sure the serial isn't #13115? #3115 would be way to early for a 365 2+2.

where are you at in the restoration? any questions just ask, I know these cars pretty good and am always willing to help get another 365 on the road.

Yes it is #13115 and it did come from Steve. He has put a lot of work in on it. The car will be shipped next week so I have not seen it in person yet.

Engine is rebuilt and in the car but not running yet, there are about 7 boxes of parts that go with the car. Wiring 50% done. I have not seen the car in person yet so not sure exactly what lies ahead.

Thanks for the offer to help with questions. I have followed your threads here and on Tom's site.

I see you have the photo album. I trust all the documents were intact.

If i am home when the car is picked up, I'll take some photo's and post them in this thread so you will know it is on the way.

I'm glad it is going to a good home, I'm going to miss that car!!!

Congrats, Greg. Looks as though Steve has gotten through most of the very difficult and hideously expensive parts of the project. You get to reap the rewards. What's left? Interior, electrical, suspension/rear axle, assembly?

Hey Steve-All the documentation made it fine, the photo album of the restoration is amazing. So much detail and it shows the care in which the car was dissasembled. It was a pleasant surprise that you included the original spare parts book, it will be a great help. Thanks!! The handwritten wiring diagrams and documents show painstaken care.

If you get a chance please post more info on some of the work you have done. I am assuming when you started it looked like it did at the end of the album, with the motor in place but not much hooked up. I am guessing somebody started this restoration during the Ferrari boom in the late 80's and then it did not make sense to finish it.

When i first got involved i had to remove the engine from the car. I installed the clutch and rebuilt the torque tube. The trans was cleaned and painted then everything went back in. Trans is dry by the way!

All the smog parts are included but the holes in the heads have been plugged for the smog tubes and the tubes were cut off the headers and welded up then the headers were painted with aluminizing paint and i'm not sure you know this but there is a new exhaust all the way out the back.

Then i started cleaning, painting, and bolting trying to use the proper hardware as per the parts book. That book (in Italian) is all i had to go on. That is why it is in "not so good" condition.

If you search this section or my history there were questions asked about this car 2 winters ago. Covered all kinds of topics from starter to horn.

I cant say for sure but, I think everything is there. If anything is missing, it won't be much. I never failed to find whatever part i was looking for.

I never counted but i imagine i logged 400-500 hours. It was a great experiance to work on it and i would do it again!

Interior is just sitting in there. Can do final assembly of interior until wiring is complete.

Electrical is about 50%. I worked my way around the exterior, meaning lights and stuff. The steering column is done and i was working on the switch panel and instruments. With the provided drawings, you will be shocked at how easy it will be.

Suspension/ rear axle and drive train should be done except fluid. The oil drain plug was stripped. The hole has been welded and needs to be rethreaded. There is a tap and a new drain plug in the boxes.

Greg, you are going to crap your pants when you see how clean it is under there. Some soapy water and the bottom of the car will be as clean as the top.

    Fan relays before and after.

Steve Huck and the others before me have done the heavy lifting, I ALMOST feel guilty about getting to finish it and actually drive it. Its been off the road for about 20 years.

This car was a real bargain to pick up at this stage of restoration for the price offered. I am glad you will be enjoying it soon. Maybe you could fly the PO out and go for a weekend road trip. I really like the car, and if my new garage had been completed I might have beaten you to the purchase!
    Enjoy.
