I think Nunzio is pretty sharp about this stuff. If he stops at $4500, then he's decided that's where the market is.

I am pretty sure he's neither losing his touch, nor his steam! :)

    Although I wouldn't mind picking up a pouch/handbook for $2500.......

not any internal family rivaly. i am in florence and was one a plane for the auction end. a quick phone call and the bid was entered. the pouch already has a home. the price is over market considering it only had the two most common books. however, where else are you going to find one? even though nunzio has been quite, ther really hasn't been much to buy in the last six months.

I just started looking at these post and pulled my folder/pouch. I have style #5 and my car is the 3rd from the last Dino built - 8514. I am the 3rd owner of the car.

I own a Dino 246GT ("L" series 00542) which I fully restored in the late 90s and showed in 2000 and 2001. It was missing some of the goodies when I acquired it but fortunately, I pieced all of the missing items together before prices went through the roof. In fact, I bought two different pouches for the manual and want to make sure I know which one is correct for my car. I saw wspeer's posting from '03 - very interesting. I have a friend who has owned a Dino from new in June of 1970 (serial #00870 - he picked it up at the factory on his honeymoon). His original pouch appears to be a type #1 and I will post a photo of it when I have one in hand. Can anyone verify that pouch type #1 is correct for a 206GT as well? If a type #1 pouch is correct for both a 1968/69 206GT and a 1970 series "L" car, I'll feel confident that a type #1 is also correct for my 1969 "L" series Dino which is sandwiched in between the two. Thanks all for your help.

Your pouch appears identical to mine, L-series 00462. It came with the car when purchased 4 yrs ago, so I presume but am not positive that it is original to my car.

Thanks all for your help. I feel I have enough "data" to know which one is right for my car.

Robert, did you buy your car from Steve Serio?

Looks like the snap tab is the same as in this auction #8058622947
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8058622947

Although the seller says it is original, the shape of the tab that holds the snap just seems off

Did the 308GT4 Dino also have a "Dino" labeled pouch?

Would it look like the late ('74) 246 Dino pouch, with the word Dino on the cover, not boxed?

the 74 dino 308gt4's definitely had the same style pouches as the late 246's. it is the last variety pictured for the 246. the red interior with the dino unboxed.

the 308 gt4 then went to the dino unboxed, darker leather and tan, suede like interior. a very few had the same pouch with both the dino and the cavallino.

FYI, I am the seller of the '72 Dino pouch (ebay auction #8058622947) . Synchro, have no fear, this is original and unrestored. I've been totally upfront about the condition and as a long time Dino owner, I've seen lots of these pouches. This one is really in good condition and everything including the snap is correct. All of the stitching is particularly good - someone must have stored it carefully at some point because the one I have for my "L" series Dino (pouch style #1) is not as nice (but is correct for my early car).

Just commenting that this pouch has a leather tab w/retaining snap that does not have the square cut as in all Dino pouches I've seen in the last 25 years. This one has an angle to it and is not like any other I've seen.

Looking over Speer's postings of the photos, all the correct pouches have a square tab, but the photos are a bit small. Could you get a photo of all the different pouch tabs lined up? I'm sure the one in the auction is different, possibly indicating a long time repro.

I've looked at Speer's photos and the ones I took of my pouch and they are identical (his are just very small). As for long time reproductions, I got this 10 years ago when original pouches were reasonable and fairly abundant. Jeez, who pissed in your Cheerios?

the photos i originally posted were small. i have been considering placing larger, more detailed photos for those who were interested. maybe it is time i did so. the rounded nature of the snap isn't incorrect. just as there are different pouch configurations, the rest of the pouches changed as well. the photo of the ebay pouch does show the rounded snap closure. the 72 style pouches i have are the same. there are other pouches that are more squared off, similar to the corners of the pouch itself.

what is the extent of the "glue" on the back? from the ebay auction, it looks like a bird deposited something on the back and looks fairly significant. is it?
