Thanks, yeah, disadvantage of being on the East Coast. Those times for the Gallardo seem really slow...430's got some nice numbers!
i think it was option magazine tested two cars last year. it was g-coup and 430coup, pretty much 430 walked from g-car. i don't know why this would happen considering they have similar hp. i would think g-car would be easier to drive at the track because of awd. anyway both are great cars.
You're right. My mistake. However, the first 430 was a test in Italy if I remember. There was a comparison they did with about 6 cars last year. Does anybody have those numbers? I think the 430 was fastest and the G was fairly close behind. Drop the hammer starts in any of these cars make me cringe.
I've got a GT3 and I think most tests have them in low 4's. My G will pull on the the GT3. I don't holeshot the cars but I'm sure the GT3 would be quicker due to less weight to get going, a shorter first gear and the ability to generate some minor wheel spin.
Gallardo Spyder gained over 300 lbs in the process vs 80lbs for the 430 Spyder. After reading that comparo ,I would at least consider seriously a Gallardo SE Coupe vs 430 but in case of Spyders only the F car. Wayne's twin turbo conversion, while creating a real monster,is just very pricey raising the total cost to almost $300k.(too close to 640LP which would be a better choice overall)
The issue is that Ferrari wasnt playing on the level in terms of a comparison test. Come on, who would test a euro car when we all know that it is a test of u.s spec vehicles? Plus, keep in mind that with launch control, the 430 probably is able to hit its peak power much quicker. Sure, we'd expect a faster time from the 430 based on previous comparisons, but really not that big of a difference. This sounds like an episode of Pinks....
Very few actually read the articles much less notice things like that. Guys read C&D buy whichever comes out on top, park that one out front, and sit at the bar with the mag face up next to their drink. That's why there are so many low mileage exotics for sale. As soon as the mags say a different one is better most sell the one that came in second and pay up for the one that won. Makes sense to me. Why drive the one you like when you can drive the one C&D likes? Why drive either one at all for that matter? If your car falls to #2 it's easier to sell it with 200 miles than if you'd actually put some miles on it.
I'm less concerned about the Ferrari vs Lambo debate, but rather interested in the G Spyder's crappy performance showing. Those numbers just are pretty unimpressive for a 520HP sports car, and a big difference over the G coupe. I still haven't received my damn copy of the mag yet either!
How much heavier is the G-Spider than the F430? I would still rather have the G-spider. I find its not all about preformance. How many G-spiders are being made compared to F430 spiders? I would take the G-spider over the F430 anyday, I may loose a race or what ever, but its still a damn nice car.
Thats Ok I'd take the Lambo ANYDAY,,,,,,I'll just have Jason do the 679 RWHP twin turbo thing again.....then the Ferrari will be the prancing turtle!.
I just picked up my 430 spyder and I can honestly say Ferrari got it right on this car. Everything is made to work just right. It is fast and handles great and looks more beautiful in person. It is a great car and maybe one of the best they ever made.
I definitely would not take this test as bible. From my experience with Gcars, the 6 speeds are substantially quicker than the Egears, while the opposite is true for the 430. Racing my Esprit against a friends Egear Gallardo, i was able to pull the Gallardo by approx 1/2 a car.I raced the same run, 30-140mph in my Esprit against a friends 430 F1, and he killed me. Id say he would put a good 5 cars on that particular Gallardo in the same race. Then i raced the same 430 in my murcielago, pulling him by about a car and half. In the same race against my murci vs a friends 6 speed Gallardo, I could pull approx the same distance as the 430. Both Gallardos are 04's. I also raced a 6 speed 430 Spider with exhaust in my stock Murcielago, and could pull him by several cars. Anyways th epoint of all this babble is that inmo, especially with new 520hp Gcars, the cars are pretty evenly matched, just comes down to which car you prefer. Ill take the G anyday.
the f430 is a great ferrari;despite the somewhat childish lines and quickie-design..(god i miss the f355spyder!) it's fast,YES;FASTER than a G-CAR,but has always been underwhelming on track compared to the g-car(not the stradale, tho'!). in most tests;even the latest f430 coupe is slower than a '04 g-car on track. however, even the stradale kicks the g-car's arse when it comes to the only "race" american magazines seem to care about;the 0-60 and the 1/4mile.
The good news is that those who care about more than the 1/4 mile will get a chance to see just how fast Lambo's really are in June when the M RGT goes up against the big boys. As for street legal cars IMHO the 430 CS will be a lot faster than the 430.
Again misguided info. 430 is NOT faster than a Gallardo, especially any 06 Gallardo. Again, 360CS has been beaten by even the early Gallardo on most tracks, including the Nurburgring and Hockenheim, even though the 360CS was riding on race tires. And a 360CS will get its ASS handed to it in any acceleration times against ANY Gallardo.
dude,i was there! but seriously;a f430 does accelerate faster than an e-gear gallardo.so does the much-hyped 360CS.but you have to read the REST of my post.... i stated that despite being slower in the 0-60s,a gallardo usually comes out tops on any track;only problem being the not-so-great-after-lap 25 kind of brakes!the bmw m6 also has brakes that fade alarmingly on track. so there, the gallardo IS FASTER ON TRACK/IN REAL WORLD;where you can use it's power almost ALL THE TIME.it's also less twitchy than a 360 at 10/10ths.
