Well after allmost 2 trouble free years........was getting on the freeway yesterday and going up thru the gears the peddle suddenly went freely to the floor. Son of a Bi***!!! I thought, here I am going down I-5 with no clutch...great...well had to revert to my old truck driving experiance shifting by rpm's instead of using the clutch. Then of course turning the car off at the stoplight and starting the car in gear. Probably got a few chuckels from some folks as I learched a bit on take off. But did get her safely back in the garage! Now to replace the cable. I'm sure my workshop manual shows me how but... any extra advice or secret tricks would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers!

I was getting on the freeway, redline in first, shift, pedal to the floor and said Sh*t - busted a cable. I did the same starting in gear, lurch and got it home, ordered a cable, (without even looking at it). Got the cable and installed it - (the old one looked ok and didn't appear streched) still wouldn't work, so i took the clutch off, only to find that the clutch disc had lost a "puck" and that it had stacked up on another puck. Man did i feel stupid.

Sent the clutch back to Centerforce, they overhauled everything, pressure plate disc, (with a full face carbon fiber lining) balanced it and returned it to me for a couple of hundred bucks...

Moral of story, confirm diagnosis before guesing and ordering.

Yes I looked under the car and found one end of a broken and frayed cable. Pretty sure its for the clutch. But will inspect further to comfirm! Thanks.

Wow!!! I never even considered clutch cable failure.

Thanks for posting... I'm going make an appointment at Eugenio's to have him check the cable on my GT4.
