I realized just this evening that the possession I have owned for the longest time is a S&W model 19 I bought on my 18th birthday for $175 with the help of my 21 year old brother. I will keep it to my dying day.

I regret that I no longer have the Marlin 39A .22 lever rifle I got at age 16.

What possession do you have that you have had the longest?

    Post a pic please.

The oldest posession that I currently can take a picture of is my Speak and Math. I've had this for as far back as my memory goes. I can still hear the voice in my head, "Greater than less than level 1" or "You got my number. Your score is <pause> four."

My oldest possesion period is a toy tractor my grandfather gave me when I came home after my birth. Its at my parents house, for safe keeping.

I got this Arkansas Razorback football bank 35 years ago when I was 3 and in the hospital for surgery. It's been banging around here ever since, despite the efforts of various females in my life. Admittedly, it's a pretty ugly thing.

Astoundingly enough, I found the baseball one at a garage sale about 5 years ago, and paid a whole quarter for it. I had no idea the first one was a part of a series before that. Does anyone know anything about these banks? Is there a basketball one?

Why funny you should ask: just yesterday I ran across a can of Falstaff from a case I 'got' when I was around 14-15 years old. Without divulging my age, it's REAL old.

Tillman, those are fantastic! I bet there is a basketball one, I'd watch eBay for a couple of years, if it exists it'll pop up sooner or later on eBay!

I had the same thing when I was little. Also had the red and yellow ones. The voices always creeped me out.

Not my oldest, but one of the more interesting: an unused ticket to a 1982 Clapton concert. The girl I was supposed to take stood me up. <omit long interesting story> when I finally got there after a long conversation with a cop, it wasn't even sold out! I still have her ticket. Not my finest hour, but a good show at least.

A Colt .22 revolver, purchased for me as a future gift on the day I was born. That sort of counts. It's all there, same as the day they bought it.

A small cotton quilt with light-blue border that my mother made for me when I got pneumonia at 10 months or so.

A Snoopy stuffed animal that I loved and a Pooh Bear that I got at 5 or 6. The Pooh is the first thing I remember getting.

I'm starting to feel a little odd for having a revolver. Maybe I should have saved some of that crap.

    Possibly.

I painted it purple, and in yellow I painted 'Falstaff' on it, and wrote on the bottom '73. Or was it '72 ?

Christ, now that I think about it, maybe it was Schlitz, or Hamm's, I don't remember..... god I'm getting OLD.

    NINE BUCKS.

What were they last year, $90 for the cheapest ? (and sold out)

I remember going to a Grand Funk concert in like 1975, it was $7 and we thought it was a giant rip-off.

Quilt and Sock Monkey are at my folk's place. I didn't buy 'em, though.

I take this means an item in possession, continuously owned since time immemorial which was:
made or purchased by the individual F-Chatter,
    as opposed to items:
made or paid for by someone else for the individual.

Since they're in my possession and not in storage, and forever marked as mine - those would be: a few '65 Topps Baseball Cards - with Stats leading thru '64.

I claimed indisputable ownership on 3 of them by scrawling my name on the back, as only a 4-year-old would.
    128 - Vic Davalillo
    144 - Ed Kranepool
    148 - Willie Kirkland

Pix are not my scans, otherwise, there'd be some wear and tear, though none of them show any sign of being stuck into bicycle spokes with clothespin to make that oh, so desirable motorcycle sound (did that with a Tom Seaver Rookie Card, though - my brother has that one)...

Since these were pre-stupid-paydays for non-superstars, I like the way they all look like they're wondering how they're going to make the next payment on the family sedan. Dig Willie's toothpick, too.

I think i have a few teddy bears at my parents place from when i was born. I also have a 1930 penny, that my Dad "gave" to me,when i was born. I have seen the coin once or twice, years ago and its still with my Dad at his place. He doesnt remember when he aquired it either, but he assures me it was a very very long time ago. :D
