Well, despite my best efforts to drive carefully in the sportscar-hell that is New York City, after the wonderful sunday hospital show and run, at one point the pavement just came up and bit me. I wasn't going fast (maybe 20mph) but i scraped the bottom a bit. I took a picture under the car. Anyone know whether I've done serious damage here? I think the hole was pre-existing but I'm worried about what looks like maybe a frayed wire, as well as the fact that I might have heard a squeak later while going over another bump (even more slowly). This is under the front, passenger side, ahead of the tire.

    Thanks for the advice!

What kinda car do you own?? Why dont you jack the car up and put it on stands and then just take that cover off and see what damage has been done? And if that is a wire, but it doesnt look like wire to me?? Is that a peice of rock/concrete jammed up in there also?? :) Its hard to look at 2 pics and tell you if any damage is done. Looking at the pics but,i honestly dont really think so,but check it out man :D

Should've mentioned, my car is an 84 Ferrari 308 QV. I will have someone get it on a lift but I just wanted to see if anyone could recognize something just from the pics... Thanks.

That big chunk of pavement jammed up into the car probably isn't a good sign!

Look again chico, looks like its sitting on/in-between the big belly gaurd and the smaller one behind it. So it may not be too bad, unless, its jammed up in the lower control arm bush area, but then its being removed asap,so shouldnt be too bad i reckon. :)

I think that is your tow hook/tie down hole but I don't see the little hook that is supposed to be there. You also adjust alignment shims thru there IIRC. Regards, Vern

AS mentioned above there may be a little stone in there & the towing eye may be pushed up but that apart it seems effectively undamaged - do not worry ! The nose undertray sounds worse than it is if you manage to scrape it

I would get up there and take a closer look at it, but my first impression is that it's fine. The shield and frame skids did exactly what they were designed to do. It made a nasty noise but slid along and didn't plow in and bend/break anything.

I agree with mxblue23. Thats a pretty strong area, it's unlikely you did any damage. It doesn't even look as if the fibreglass took that much of a hit.

Can't see your a-arms. If the lower one got hit, you probably need a wheel alignment.

Step back, I recognize this view! LOL!

Vern is correct, that is the RR of the front tray and it's the factory tow hook, in that oval opening, sometimes it has a oval cover (if the car is never driven!)

It has a steel bar in it for the wrecker guys.

What LOOKS like concrete is actually the bottom of the frame rail ahead of the A arm.....as it is the lowest point it takes all impact and abuse........

Maybe a good idea to have someone get it oin the air and check it over but I say "No harm" take your black spray can!

Repeated impacts will damage to fibreglass undertray, then you'll need some Liquid Nail and some support plates and TEK screws....and more black spray paint!

Behind the glass front tray the underbody turns to aluminum sheet, theres a lil' panel right there that gets beaten pretty badly as well....A No Parking sign is about the right size to replace that one, when trimmed......
