I am going to save that one for the dreary months of the 2006 off-season ;)

Honestly, I believe it is car dependent. Both these guys have different driving styles - so the car may suit one guy and not the other. I have a feeling that Kimi will eventually dominate regardless.

He has shown that he can do a great job in cars that werent class leading like the MP4/17D and MP4/19. He has shown calmness and equanimity when faced with frequent mechanical breakdowns. He has undoubted speed. He has age on his side.

But Michael is the most determined person on the grid today. He will summon up all his experience, speed and determination to try and beat Kimi.

I think it will be a good and fair battle because Kimi isn't given to dissing his teammates publicly or bothering with playing mental games. I think Michael has the highest respect for him like he did for Hakkinen before.

Anyway, whichever way the battle turns, the Scuderia is going to benefit undoubtedly.

I really hope the dream team will materialize. It will get us all charged up , foaming at the mouth with anticipation.

    Ki-mi, Schu-mi, Ki-mi, Schu-mi, Ki-mi, Schu-mi ..... say it all together now

All this talk of how Kimi is going to show MS the way, while I think Kimi is a fantastic talent and I would love to see him at Ferrari I think its a little early to be writing MS off just yet,I have seen nothing yet to convince me that MS is not still at his peak.Indeed if results were anything to go by we would be saying that Kimi is well past it.........for me MS is still the best with regard to all round ability........he still seems to think ten steps ahead.

Renault is also in the mix too ... here is the report from itv-f1.com

    Code:
Kimi weighs up his options for 2007
    Thursday, 04, May, 2006, 21:23

Kimi Raikkonen has turned up the heat in his negotiations with Ferrari and McLaren by publicly admitting for the first time that Renault is also serious about securing his services for 2007.

The Finn has long been linked to a switch to Ferrari next year and is believed to have been made an offer from the Italian team.

McLaren has also made clear its intention to keep Raikkonen alongside world champion Fernando Alonso, who switches over from Renault at the season’s end.

But with Renault team principal Flavio Briatore casting around for a high profile replacement for the Spaniard, speculation over Kimi’s future has taken a new twist.

"In the end there are not many positions where I want to go and everybody knows them," Raikkonen told Reuters at the Nurburgring on Thursday.

"There are only really three top teams so I don't think it's going to be a big surprise whatever I decide.

    “But I don't know, we'll see."

Much depends on Michael Schumacher, who has still to decide whether he will continue with Ferrari for another two years (which now seems likely) or whether he will quit the sport all together.

While both Schumacher and Raikkonen have said publicly that they have no problem racing alongside each other in recent weeks, it still remains a less-than-ideal scenario for either driver.

Raikkonen may yet opt to stay with McLaren, although with the reigning champion already signed up, Kimi’s bargaining, and potential earning, power has been weakened.

    Which leaves Rnault.

The French manufacturer does not commonly pay huge salaries, though it could potentially have offered Alonso enough cash to stay on.

If that’s the case, why then would it be prepared to match Ferrari and McLaren’s bids for Kimi, when it already has the best car at its disposal and young cheap talent such as Heikki Kovalainen waiting in the wings?

All this leads back to Ferrari, which has an open chequebook from Marlboro and the added advantage of being the only one of the three to carry the tyre continuity of Bridgestone into 2007.

Kimi maintains, that for now at least, his mind is not made up.

"There's only really been three teams over the last two years that have been capable (of winning the championship)... so I don't think it's going to be too difficult to decide between them,” he said.

"The money is not going to be much different wherever I go, so that's not going to decide it.

"It's going to come down to small things. First of all you want to have the best car but you are never going to know what you are going to get next year. You just hope you make the right decision."

Just read a very recent interview with Peter Sauber, who is among other thing a close friend of Jean Todt. About the MS/KR question he said: "I can very well imagine - without any insider knowledge - them being together at Ferrari next year."

If it quacks like a duck and acts like a duck...

Blick announced today that Ferrari has given Michael time until October to decide whether he wants to drive for the Scuderian in 2007 or not.

While that is a very nice gesture, it does underline the fact that they have already secured Kimi's services for 2007. Ferrari wouldn't risk its own future with a gamble like that otherwise.
