    I got a F430 with a Becker/Parrot Bluetooth factory installed unit.

My phone is Moto Razr with Alltel service.
It works great with the the moto bluetooth ear piece.

In the car, I get the phone and car to handshake.
The phone-on button in the car causes the phone to activate a call, and connect,
BUT ! there is no sound at all thru the speakers.
I have tried with the stereo headunit on and off.
I have tried the handset open and closed
I have tried adjusting the volume of both the headunit and phone.

    No dice.

Any ideas of how to make this $1000 option work?

I did a search on this forum and found other people had problems.
There is no post to date with resolution.
I put an email inquiry into both Becker and Parrot. Awaiting results.
If I get it resolved, I'll post the answer to this vexing situation.

I had this problem with a Blackberry and a Moto car kit. First I had an "older" Moto car kit (it was the newest one at the time) and a brand new Blackberry 7290. I had the problem you described. I found out that the devices paired fine, but sound didn't play through the speaker. I later found out that the Blackberry firmware was incompatible (there was an upgrade available by download), and that the Moto kit wasn't compatible with all Bluetooth devices (undocumented, but many complaints on the web - it was horrible apparently with non-Moto phones). Luckily, Moto released a new car kit within a month of my purchase and I exchanged it for the new one. I upgraded the firmware on the phone, and it worked perfectly.

My other car has Bluetooth as well and it went more smoothly. The Blackberry upgrade was the solution in this case as well.

My wife's phone paired perfectly to both cars.

It's very important that the Bluetooth versions on the devices are not too far apart. You want the Bluetooth on your phone to be newer than the Bluetooth device in your car. Plus I find that Bluetooth certification on a product isn't worth the logo printed on the box. It's more of an advertising feature than a compatibility statement. Blackberry Bluetooth compatibility is horrible and continues to be. Pay VERY close attention to the compatibility or incompatibility lists published for any Bluetooth device especially the device in your car. I have found through experience that the only things you can assume to be compatible are the devices listed in the manufacturers documentation. Any other non-documented combination is an experiment and can be very frustrating.

I completely expect that the Bluetooth in my car will become obsolete with my next phone upgrade, so it is important to select devices that can be upgraded. Therefore, if there is a choice, get Bluetooth built into a third party head unit or car kit rather than OEM. Most car audio companies offer this now as an optional module (Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood, etc.).

My suggestion: rip out the Becker and put in an Alpine or Pioneer. You'll might be able to reuse the factory microphone near the dome light as well.

Must check box at Ext.Phone under audio mute option.

but before that, try this. Have somebody call you from another phone,
answer it hitting the green botton in the car, turn the left dial and adjust
the phone volume. You can only adjust the phone volume when you are actually on the line.

If everything works out, you're gonna own own of the most expensive headsets in the world.

I heard on the new 911s you can actually insert SIM cards, making it into a 80,000+ cell phone with an engine. WOW

The dealer faxed me the 16 page manual on the bluetooth and after pressing a few buttons on the head unit, was able to get it to work fine.

    Relief!

And it seem to work fine.
Tomorrow I'll try it while driving and see if the mike picks up mostly Engine!

As good as the Bluetooth is when the engine is off, is as UNUSABLE as it is while on the highway. I had two callers beg me to take it off Bluetooth because all they heard was the V-8 !

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know I should not even think about talking calls during "therapy time" but this is the world I live in.

I just came across this interesting reference. It's a Bluetooth compatibility chart that cross references cars with phones and visa versa. It doesn't list Ferrari's, but a useful reference none the less that should get better with time. This list is only what the manufacturer has tested BTW so other phones not in this list *may* work.
