Aston Martin DBS Unveiled

The car Magazine article quoting Ulrich Bez CEO of Aston Martin says it is the new flagship of the range built on the VH structure that all Astons for the foreseeable future will be based on. The Vanquish is not built on this structure and does not fit into Aston's future plans.

It makes its world debut at the Detroit motor show in January.

 

Its not all that different from the vanquish and the interior is really well done.

I think it looks good, except for the shift knob as mentioned earlier by a few people. That just looks out of place.

The VH platform is an interesting and nice concept with different wheelbases, but same "chassis" i.e. V8....DB9.....Rapide....future vehicles. But it is not the Vanquish replacement. The future Vanq will have 600hp, and is about a couple-three years away from production. No doubt it too will probably use the VH platform. (Hopefully they won't **** it up like Ferrari did with the 599.) I foresee a major dilemma in my future, the Vanquish replacement or the Rapide.

The only advantage I see in the DBS is that it is an "S" engine mated to a 6 speed stick, rather than the 6 speed F1. It's still a DBR inspired DB9.

I too am not fond of the extra vents, but I also am not fond of the 430's extra vents either and prefer the 360. It too (430) belongs in a "tuning Mag."

P.S. As an aside, I am disappointed in some of the newer designs coming about. The beautiful flowing lines of the 360, 550/575, DB9 etc being
bastardised with extra vents etc, very disappointing indeed.

 

i bet this is one of those cars that looks better in person...in real life...without such dramatic lighting creating so many pronounced shadows. will look awesome in the film , im sure.

 

you can't paint with such a broad brush...astons are GTs, murcielagos etc are not. different purposes for each

 

I didn't think the new actor who plays Bond could drive a stick???

 

Too much up front. The Aston grill is already gigantic. I have no idea why they put that huge intake beneath the grill. The engine doesn't need that much air.

The side sculptures are very unnecessary and distract.

The rest, especially the interior is a well-done development over the DB9.

Overall it's not worth that money but they'll pick up some 599 leftovers. They need something stronger to command that much money in this day and age. The ball has been moved far, far forward.

It will look very good for Hollywood however.

We'll see how it performs.
