Broken Old Laptop......

Damn, that sucks. What happened to it? Spilled a liquid on it or what? I doubt you can use the screen for anything unless you're REALLY an expert in electronics then possibly you could rig it up and use it as something. If nothing can be done you can always open it up and see how everything works...I used to love doing stuff like that with broken appliances around the house when I was younger.

...OR you can sell the parts on ebay; Im sure someone will definently buy the HD.

 

I can tell you for a 100% fact that the screens in laptops are pretty much useless in any application other than with the original laptop. They almost always have proprietary controllers embedded in the motherboard. The amount of work required to reverse engineer the screen and use it as an LCD monitor is huuuuuge and the cost of an actual LCD monitor is peanuts next to the cost of making the laptop one work. Thats why the screens only real value is as a replacement for someone with the same laptop.

 

Sell it on EBay as 'parts only'. People are looking for the screens all the time.
