The website that you need is in a link on Post #5 on this thread. Your fire extinguisher needs to be readily available in the cockpit at a minimum, just as all pilots and racers should have at the ready, as high performance cars by their very nature carry higher risks that need to be mitigated by putting your brain to work in advance (a task not always mastered by the public at large). That's at a minimum. If you want an automatic fire extinguisher in your engine compartment, there are plenty for sale at various racing, boating, and aviation stores. For many people that might be overkill. On the other hand, I've got a 4 year old daughter who likes to ride in my 348. I've got the automatic fire suppressor in the engine bay as well as a handheld unit in the cockpit. Of course, some people ride motorcycles without helmets and parachute without a reserve chute; risk avoidance isn't for everyone.
"No Doubt" has a web site. 348 Primer. It has all the info. I can't find the exact address off hand. Do a search, or maybe someone knows? Actually just click his profile and it comes up.
IMO, Fire extinguishers are a nice touch but not a necessity...Doing that major is...BTW, If you look at my thread, the tensioner bearing is what failed and destroyed my motor...No rhyme or reason...just happened.... If your car burns up....your insurance company pays if your belt fails...you pay (to put a monetary evaluation on it)
Very true, but I'm not talking money, I'm talking about your life/health. If you don't have a fire extinguisher in your cockpit, at least spend the $26 that SuperTarget charges for a small ABC unit. Give yourself enough time to escape the car if you get a locked seat belt (can easily happen with crushed metal during a crash).
