In 2003, when Europeans HATED Bush and the political right due to the start of the Iraq invasion, I visited a friend in Zurich and his friend was on a gameshow. We went to the filming and before the show the host asked if there were any Americans in the audience. Despite being Canadian, I was close enough, so my friend yelled out that I was American. The host asked me in front of the everyone if I was a Republican or a Democrat. I announced, "I am a Republican!" and the crowd burst into nervous laughter. "I am going to tell a joke about Bush," the host said. "Please laugh anyway." At least we filmed the show so I have it on DVD that I was on Swiss TV as part of the audience. Now when people say I look familiar I can say, "Oh, I get that a lot. I've been on TV."
Vaccumed the spider webs off the screen room patio frame with a shop vac floating on a raft while i stood in the pool. Trust in the wife to feed the extension cord as needed to prevent the cord from going in the pool. BT
Also, in 1984 I demonstrated to the sheriff's deputy how to do a headspin on pavement (during my breakin' days) but forgot to put down some cardboard. Mucho scrapage. BT
Not me but my cousin: On a dare tried to jump an open drawbridge in his car. He didn't make it, but survived and spend six weeks in intensive care.
Got pushed off a train (not moving) by the Minister of the Interior of Germany. Oh, earlier that trip, got to handle real live (ok not live) ancient Egyptian mummies. Chances of either of those happening again is pretty slim.
Once while driving to work, I saw a strange plane flying overhead. As it came closer, I recognized the silouette as a B-17 bomber! Impossible is what I thought. But there it was! Then I remembered that the Confederate Air Force was flying some planes into the local airport for a show. As the B-17 continued to fly toward me, I noticed smoke ahead on the street. The street ran over some railroad tracks and as I passed across the overpass, I saw the source of the smoke. It was a giant steam locomotive that just happened to be passing through town and was making a stop at the local train station. So there I was, with a steam locomotive chugging away beside me as a B-17 bomber flew overhead. When was the last time that happened to anybody, or will ever happen again?
The train, of course. http://www.lionel.com/Products/ProductNavigator/getproduct.cfm?ProductNumber=6-31728 http://www.lionel.com/Products/ProductNavigator/getproduct.cfm?ProductNumber=6-39262 http://www.lionel.com/Products/ProductNavigator/getproduct.cfm?ProductNumber=6-39258
What's wrong with the extension cord in the pool? I did that all the time when I was using an electric weed-wacker in the backyard. No problems ever happened. Plus, water (deionized) does not conduct electricity. Salt water, however, does because it has free ions that can conduct it.
One October night in 1974... I, a trumpeter, switched sheet music with a flautist. My bandmates played notes in octave ranges they'd never seen before either. Save for one... We were a marching band... and we marched on that field with protest in mind. Bad, Bad, Leroy Brown never sounded so bad. There has not been a marching band halftime show at that high school since that night.
Martin, You have never heard that story? It was my dad's. I'll have to fill you in on that one. It was his, not a customers, so it wasnt bad.
I only have one.....Water seems to get me in lots of trouble -big wave surfing in shallow water (crashed so hard that I couldn't move my right arm for 3 weeks) -after Hurricane Elaina 1985? I swam home because the major bridge was closed by the National Guard, I wanted to feed my dog -swam in the Ocean at night, seeing who could swim out the farthest before getting creeped-out by sharks -swam in the Ocean during huge lightning & thunder storms in Tampa Bay (Lightning Capital of the World) because we thought it was exciting & pretty -learning to sail during small craft advisory, when the guy that knew how to sail...fell out of the boat
Drove from Charlotte, NC to San Diego by myself, with only two stops (Tenn,TX) for a quick 1-1.5 hour catnap at rest stops. Around 2500 miles, I know I did it under 40 hrs total, but that whole trip was a blur. Don't want to repeat.
