ya and goes nowhere in 6th

basicly its a 5 speed car with a 6th gear for highways crusing ONLY, NO power, NO torque, and NO acceleration comes of it, its USELESS!!! Its just there so they can say they get 30mpg on the highway, whata joke

other than that that cars pretty good.

A joke, um, no....it works wonders.

My friend got over 27 MPG on a trip to Boston in his Z.

    It's a double overdrive, it's meant for MPG, not acceleration....like 90% of 6-speed cars.

Car looks like a ferrari rip off and a 7 liter engine is rather on the large side

The C6 is a Ferrari rip-off? Looks more like an updated C5 to me...
What, exactly, do you think the purpose of a sixth gear is?

Yeah, it'd be much better to leave it off and get 8mpg highway. Why not? It goes 175+ in 5th gear, who needs to go faster? The Corvette is supposed to be an all around sportscar, and 30mpg sure helps establish that, in my opinion.

Did you notice it beat a Zonda and a 430 around the track too? God, what a useless rebadged gaudy Ferrari.

I'm not a fan of the vette per 'se , but amazing. Just wish they'd spend some time on the suspension and class up the interior.

I can't believe how utterly clueless and or snobby some people are.

    Looks like a Ferrari? Huh?

Exactly how does it look like a Ferrari because for the life of me I can't make out any resemblence. Or is it just because this is a Ferrari site and there was a 575 in the clip?

    Ferrari snobs are rather sad.

And to the person that thinks it's ridiculous that what is essentially a race car has a very tall 6th gear perhaps you should rethink your post.

The tall 6th gear is a very good engineering feat. It serves it's purpose beautifully. Are there any other 505 HP rockets out there that can attain nearly 30 MPG on the highway?

I don't know if it's Ferrari snobbery or just idiocy but there are times when it's not a good thing to post the first thought that comes to mind.

Large side? My understanding is that SBC is actually smaller AND lighter than the vast majority of its European counterparts.

Replay it. Clarkson said the cars looked the same.

I'd say the 575 is more elegant, but there are a few similarities -- profile, door handles, lighting...

    Clarkson's an entertainer.

The Z06 is the performance bargain of all time.

    Get over it.

I have to admit that I have never been a Corvette kinda guy....BUT... I saw a black Z06 a few days ago and it definately has some wow factor about it. Very much an improvement over previous Vettes. The more I read about the LS7 engine the more I am fascinated by it. There is just something kind of cool about a 427 small block..... pushrod or not.

Like that's a problem? There's no such thing as too large of an engine.

Amazing car, take one over just about any Ferrari.

Exactly. Besides, hp/liter is a COMPLETELY useless statistic. It's just a BS way for Euro car fans to justify that their car got its ass handed to it by an American car costing 1/3 of theirs.

hp/litre shows the efficiency of the engine. If it's not important at all, then we can always make bigger and bigger engines to extract more power, but that's a waste of fuel and resources. Increasing the efficiency of the engine is the right way into the future as the available resources around us declines.
