The shape even enhances reflections too.
The local F Club is very active and we've been out driving nearly half of all weekends this year between organized and impromptu rides. One of the interesting things about the curves of a Dino when driving is that the sunlight reflections seem to land on a LOT more cars than my other cars. You can see the reflected light bouncing on the cars around you as you drive.

    Jim,

That's an interesting thought about silver/red/yellow better exploiting the cars curves. I could see that being the case. I am seeing a yellow 246gts on the website header here on fchat as I type this. Delicious color.

A metallic something could be pretty cool.

Anyone know of any website with a set of '70s era Ferrari color swatches scanned in?

I think not- odd, yes, but not atrocious! In the final analysis, to each his own, but personally I favor keeping cars original except in very unusual circumstances. Having said that, all three Ferraris I've owned have been rosso corsa, so I've had it easy!

It wasn't sold to its first owner until mid '74, despite its '72 mfg. date. I have some indication that the exterior of the car was painted, VERY SHORTLY THEREAFTER, to metallic blue.

It didn't live for long in white.

Not long after that, the interior was dyed black.

By the time I bought it, the only original item in the car was the red carpet. The exterior had been painted again, to red, some 20 years earlier.

Hey! Can you post some photos of your car "as is?" I'd like to see what the existing color looks like.

Mark, here is the ad to which I responded and bought the car:
    http://www.ferrari-forsale.com/246GT-1972-ForSale
Some pics are in there, though the first few pics make the car look redder than it is.
And none of the pics reveal the metallic nature of this particular paint job.

I, for one, like the color of your car as it is. It looks great to me.

tzucc, I think your car looks beautiful. The color is rarely seen and I really like it. If you remove the silly added horses and badges, it will be perfect!

    Cheers,

    Julio

Not surprising. The Ferrari dealer in Baltimore had unsold Dinos in '74 that had been hanging around for a while (and sold a new GT4 for $14K when they lost the franchise in '75).

Julio, thx. The only reason I am considering the repaint is some chips in the paint on the hood, other imperfections here and there.

I personally like the metallic colours and am in the 'glad to be different' camp although i must say dinos look great in red , it just is'nt for me.
my car was originally ordered in black, (20-B-50 Salchi) I would like to keep it original but do'nt really fancy it that colour so i am going to go for the grey mettalic as i prefer it. yes it's good that we all have different tastes otherwise we might as well be sheep!
Here's a photo of part of my car being stripped, it as i say was originally black then silver followed by metallic blue then red and finally red again!!!!
I estimate 20-25 kilos has been removed from the entire body, should go faster now! (well one day anyway)
