I heard the same thing when I first wrapped mine and post about it. Well, I had mine wrapped for the past 5 years. I just unwrapped them because the wrap was starting to crack...the headers look just as they did 5 years ago before the wrap. I actually had them double wrapped and i sprayed the wrap with high heat silver paint to make it look better...I think they were just about as insulated as they could be with no hint of a problem. I wouldn't worry about the header wrap.
First WAH WAH WAH WAH................. Second Very professional "Gun Boy" I build vehicles for profit also and also share my insight, ideas, and more often than not I learn from others, I don't belittle them, and don't percieve myself as any "authority" as you demonstate on a very regular basis. Third I can only imagine that some day a "past" employee of yours might just get postal on your ass...........if you have the balls to speak and address employees, as you do your fellow F-car owners here on the internet, I can surely see you getting bludgeoned by a blunt object one day by some disgruntled employee.....I hope you don't experience that "Pistol Pete"!! And Last.....I am not one of your employees...........Don't ever ****in' talk to me like that again..............Maybe some day I might have the pleasure of having you introduced to me at some event........I long for that........I'll be kind, polite and I will make sure you are aware of whom I am........Then we'll see how you converse in the flesh, you cyber Rambo! Kerry PS By the way, thanks for the 3rd or 4th time for the HVAC fan advice.....Now stop your tough guy whining and get back to giving constructive, "free" (your word, by the way remember I DID offer to pay for your time....still haven't gotten the invoice?) advice and insight as is expected of all whom participate in this F-car playground. By the way better yet, take your own advice............"You don't have to listen and I don't have to help." Edit: I see only consultants...................can use the F*** word here.........You are special!!
Mark, I used the thermal exhaust wrap for 7 years on a Z28 convertible in Houston. When I removed the wrap to sell the car, the headers were pristine. I used the same thermal exhaust wrap for 10 years on a 1995 convertible Corvette, and its exhaust is still going strong (gave the car to my nephew in Houston for earning his Eagle Scout). I do warn people that the thermal wrap could trap moisture and potentially lead to rust...or that the higher internal header heat could shorten header life...but that's erring on the side of caution. My personal real-world experience so far is that the wrap is fine.
all this commotion over a hose that may or may not exist to cool or not cool the CV ....c'mon...save it for something that really is controversial...like how often do we have to change our belts...save the passion for the cars not the chat. ONE LOVE.
Hey, if the choice is having ANOTHER thread about belt intervals... I'd rather have these two duke it out right here! Can we declare this thread officially hijacked?
