I don't think any one cares, but I said I'd post it, and there's more to come after this...I'll put on my kevlar vest... HI! You might remember me from such favorites like, "First post, REALLY curious...", "best lambo auction ever", and the unforgettable, "actually buying a gallardo". What I learned about high end car ownership High end sports cars and high end luxury cars where do I begin. When I first obtained a driving license I didnt know what every ones boner over driving a car was; I was into computer games, comic books, computers and computer networks, star trek and my dreams of making it in the entertainment industry The former hasnt really changed though Before I continue, let me add that I am the type of person who learns from the mistakes of others, there is nothing wrong with that. Call me a weirdo or whatever else youd like to if it makes you feel better. Well I got to a point where I tried to convince myself I was really into cars, just couldnt get it to work for me Enter the Nissan 350z, I was in love, I needed to have this car, I wanted it more than anything else in the world. Every time Id see one on the road Id nearly snap my neck to see it for as long as I could until it zoomed out of sight I was hooked on cars, I didnt know it, but this Nissan started it all. In 2003 when they were released, they were rare cars, so seeing one of those in that time, is like seeing an exotic at any point in time. I wasnt really too keen on exotics, I thought they were over priced and too wild, almost ugly. They are over priced. They are too wild. They are not, however, ugly at all. The grace of exotics, to me, is a marriage of their styling and their power their mystique almost like seeing a lion at your local park, or a T-Rex at the pet shop. Youre always left wondering what that thing was So I get a little older, I start making more money, I say to myself, ok Im going to get myself into a 350z, its going to happen finally. Well, except I didnt know how to operate a manual transmission at the time Then there was also my wary side, how much is the insurance going to take a bite out of your savings/spending money? What if someone rear ends you right away? If you buy it cash, then youre wasting all that money on something thats not going to give you an even return when you sell it If you make payments on it then youre paying more in the end! and here Im sure someone is saying to themselves, hes not going to enjoy any car, hes going to garage queen every car worth driving! I test drove a 350z, it was a very rainy day, and I couldnt really drive it the way one should drive a sports car. I still wasnt very good at driving stick I decide against buying the Z, I was heart broken, but it was the right choice. I did, however, manage to learn stick shift...and now I can drive it ok. I learned on a Miata with a clutch that had the crap beaten out of it. Terrible. So time goes on and now my work is noticed by the right people, and Im still doing the underpaid I.T. job, with a title that doesnt match the job So Im making a little more money now, time goes on I get a raise, and Im getting more assignments to do artwork and such, some free, some paid. At this point I was all Honda, then I saw it, a silver, 3.2 TL-Type S, fully loaded, tinted windows, stock 17 inch, five spoke rims, and a spoiler. I drove it, I was finished. I bought it. Acura...or glorified Honda, who cares? I got myself a really good price on it, thats why. What an amazing car, what power, what grace, what luxury, a sun/moon roof, navigation, FOG LIGHTS, XENON LIGHTS! Now Im rolling around in multiple cars, life is great! I then start to notice the Gallardo, something about that car just got to me it was all that mystique I was rambling about earlier in my rant. Then something else happened, I notice the Murcielago It was as if I had an epiphany, I started seeing Gallardos everywhere, too many coincidences I would have a Lamborghini and nothing was going to stop me. I said to myself, Im going to have a Gallardo, and then later on a Murcielago, nothing is going to stop me. I promised myself if I did well this year Id buy myself a G. I was in the same place I was in before, except in the past I was lusting for a Z. Lets fast forward a bit, I sell everything except my Accord. What a relief! Nothing to maintain, constantly gas, just one simple car A relative purchases a new E46 M3, very strong car, very nice. Its rear wheel, 333 HP, and its a manual transmission too. He has it for 2 days before he wrecks it and nearly kills both of us. Heres another example of learning from the mistakes of others, he paid too much for it, and look what happened. He did not have the experience for that car, he didnt respect it, he wrecked it, and insurance paid too much to repair it. Lets fast forward again, I get myself into a Mercedes CLK, hey Mercedes! Nice car right? Fast, sleek, sexy, powerful and luxurious. A true sexy beast. Wrong. Its expensive, complicated, too many buttons and computers, too much technology, too much that can go wrong. Ok Ill stop babbling now Heres what I learned, from research and experience Number one, I read this on here some time ago, if you cant buy it in cash, you cant afford it I had been living that saying all my life, and never realized how profound that was, great way to put it. So does that mean if you have the cash, that you can afford it? No, it doesnt, did I know that before? Yes, but I never knew it as well as I do now. What am I driving NOW? The same good old Honda Accord, nothing else. (You hate me now, right? C'mon, don't be shy.) These fast cars, these luxury cars, they all had problems, they would make all these strange noises, the seats squeaked all the time, air bag systems would go off line, the A/C would malfunction and fixing these things off warranty isnt cheap. (I do OK for myself, Im not a multi-millionaire yet, but I would still stress these things.) So, the way I see it is, you cant afford it unless you can pay cash, and you cant pay that cash, unless it is a very small fraction of your holdings/worth. Every one sees these cars on TV, on the track, in videos of the Gumball 3000 shot by millionaires on parade, what they dont realize is that theyve the money to spend on these lavished things, and the money to repair, replace and survive after those things go wrong. These cars hold untold power, if one doesnt know how to operate anything, a car, gun, computer, anything, something is bound to go wrong. Every one my age calls me a (insert slang for female genitalia here), every one older calls me an idiot, both call me cheap, hey, whatever makes people feel good. I spend wisely. These guys dont know how much I spend on computer parts and electronics yeesh! However, at the end of the day, I go home, and I am financially secure and I think that security is a much better feeling than getting a rush. Zero debt, zero worry. Is there a moral to all this bull **** that some pitiful ass young mother ****ing is spewing? Yea, there is. You cant afford something, unless you can afford every single thing that can go wrong with whatever youre buying and want to afford it. Period. This is just some insight for some other younger guys and girls who might be in a situation similar to mine. Just wait a little longer until you can get the pan to carry it home so it doesnt crumble, and the table to eat it on whatever that means to you. To the others, if all this seems to fill in the profile of someone who is lying or someone who isnt entirely truthful about experience or success, monetary or otherwise, then Im 'really' sorry, take it for what it is. Oh and by the way, how much is exotic car insurance for someone young? Well, lets just say the price is rape at best. Then again, if you dont have the proper funds, the price is rape no matter how old you are, its just that the severity varies That and where youre from factor in too, obviously. Ill post numbers and all that jazz later just do me one favor, you wealthy boys and girls, save me a Lime Green (or Verde Ithaca for you perfectionists) Murcielago with roadster rims OK? Maybe I wont even like driving it, who knows? Theres gotta be at least one person on here that was in my boat once upon a time FLAME ON!!!! Im not sure if there were ever any posts like this one, stemming from a situation like mine, and a board fiasco like the one birthed from my original thread, but if there were, thats great . I <3 AMGgirl5 4E!!!!!)
I did read through the whole thing. Definately something to think about. Good luck, hope you drive your cash-paid Murci sooner or later.
BENSIN, you will never have a Murcielago. You're stuck in a dead end IT job and you're too risk averse. Always looking for the easy road. You have no balls and are not making any moves to make things happen. Enjoy your Honda BENSIN. You'll be driving it till you're 43 when your mom finally kicks your ass out of the house, smashes your Dungeons & Dragons game, and throws your Star Trek collection in the trash. You'll be crushed, start drinking heavily and end up losing your virginity to a man in a gay porn flick, while dreaming about Hollywood stardom. You're just a dreamer. If you really wanted a Murcie, you would be trying to do something about it instead of constantly telling averyone on the interenet how you're a "future owner". I don't want to hear about what you're going to get. I want to hear about how you're going to get it.
what "mr.scarface" says may be harsh;but there's a degree of truth around it. nothing wrong being in the IT industry(bill gates who?);here's hoping for more success to you so you can realize your dreams. and also much KUDOS TO YOU FOR OWNING UP TO A HONDA INSTEAD OF A ZONDA.a lot of posers around nowadays.
i dont like to post anything, but this time is wasting my time to read the whole thing enjoy your Honda!!!!!
Yeah there's definately nothing wrong with it. My buddy has a company desgining programs and makes millions doing it but he's the man. Big difference. Gotta be the man.
He wanted something more metrosexual. Plus, the Z has no place to put all his Star Trek action figures when he goes over to Pointdexter's house to play with their dolls.
Yeah. Don't really care much for him. He wastes everyone time with his posts about how he's buying a Gallardo and seeks advice on purchasing, when he's not even in the market for a Oldsmobile Delta 88. I see now he's upgraded to a Murcielago. He's just a dreamer and a poseur child. People in the "Buying a Gallardo" thread were all honestly trying to help him make his purchase. You ought to remember. He totally fooled you in that thread too. Unknown to them, he was full of it. He's just a tool. I normally ignore these types, but had to jump on this one.
i dont blame scarface. i would be pretty upset trying to give somone advice on buying the g then out of the blue he sells everything and keeps the honda. this is one of the funniest things ive seen. Im buying a lamborghini no wait bought a acura. sold it, mercedes time! sold it! honda time! again!
STATUES!!! THEY ARE STATUES!!! Come on Captain Picard, Data, Worf, we don't need this...THIS SUPERCILIOUSNESS!
You have good writing skills but other then that i do agree. Its no fun to have a nice car and hit yourself over the head every month because of billls..
hmm... first you say that your cousin's uncles grandmas whatever almost killed both of you in his new m3? Then you can't even drive a stick shift? Hello! God is speaking to you, your family can't drive; stay the hell out of the automobile and take the bus dumbass let the people that can drive, drive. While we're on that subject, you have no plans of ever owning an exotic, unless you can pay full cash, yet you troll a ferrari board? Let me tell you there are very, VERY, few people that pay in full cash, most people finance for a house, boat or a car. So shut up and buy your $60 a month bus pass, and stop trying to bring others down because you don't want a bit of excitement in your life. EDIT: the movie OFFICE SPACE comes to mind when i think of you.
Hey, first off, B2Level9, thanks for the props. Scarface, hey whatever man, say whatever you want, but I said I was highly considering putting a lot of money into buying a G, and I didn't upgrade to a Murcie but I would like to some day, I can't upgrade something I don't even have. I was just looking for information and advice to help out with a buying choice. Well I said I was going to test the waters and then come back and post my experience and what I learned, and that's what I did. There is more to post and I will post actual numbers as opposed to personal experience when I find the time. If I came back and instead of posting what I learned and found, had posted pictures of a G this would all be a different story. However, my posting pics of a G would mean I'd be full of **** because they sure as hell wouldn't be pics of MY G. I am not hiding a single thing, the more honest I am with you, the more I get trashed. Don't give yourself a headache analyzing how on earth a loser like myself is going to possibly ever make enough to make a big purchase like that, I'll worry about that. Some people on here helped me out and that's all I needed. You're acting like I stole money or shot someone here... Scarface and any one else, like I said...if you want to flame me, hey say whatever you want, but I am not trying to convince any one of anything, I just want to make that clear. My buying a G was and still IS dependent on how well I do this year. Nothing wrong with saving money if I got myself something I don't like I just sell it instead of keeping it. and I loooooooove my Honda, zips along just fine.
Well said ma man. I remember you're other threads and didnt take from them the attitude that some others here have........ Would everybody just cool it a little. If its abuse and crap that you wish to post, get you're "REPOST QUEEN" badge on and attack others that post pics of wooden Ferraris or Lambos hanging from walls etc.
