Any ferrari can be a daily driver if you can afford the operating costs. But, if you need a car every day, you should realize that when it goes in for service you don't get it back the same day... Many use 355, 360, or 550 as a daily driver. all are excellent choices.
A 355 can be a daily driver from the reliabilty stand point. I have never been stuck on the road with it in two years of driving it three to four times a week to work. The practicality is a different story. The car is very low so if you go into parking lots or garages with speed bumps or ramps you are often going extremely slow and at sharp angles possibly annoying some SUV owners in a hurry. Storage space is at a premium and because it is low you do not want to put anything too heavy in the nose. You can not leave it in the sun because the interior will melt and or shrink without a sun screen on the windshield. With these issues in mind it is a good daily driver. I usually can not wait to go to work when I take the 355. For me it is still an event
it has been done crazy people out there... and annoying SUV drivers who are in a hurry happens to be a hobby of mine!
It can be a daily driver, but I don't think it can be a practical daily driver. Where you live plays a big factor into it also. Some areas don't have enough shops/dealers for the amount of f-car owners around and getting service or repairs can result in longer waits. Either way if you do try it, you should start some type of blog and record all the problems you run into. Would be kind of cool to see how many problems one would really have if the car were driven daily.
i drive my 355 alot, not daily. just to give you a idea on how much i drive it i bought the car with 20,678k miles on it. It now has 23, 345 on the clock. I alternate from my mercedes but the 355 sees more action. I think a 355 can be a good daily car if you don't mind the driveways and speed bumps and parking issues. i don't mind them at all, but to each his own. i have black interior and without covered parking or a sunshade the interior gets hot. other than the minor annoyances the car is a fine driver. I live in honolulu so stop and go traffic is a common sight, but you get used to it!
mine is a daily driver, everyday weekday, rain or shine. no problems, about 40km per day. yes, your costs go up but who cares? it's only money...
If it's your first F-car I don't think it is so much a case of "if" it can be a daily driver, it's more a case of can you pass up any opportunity to drive it. I'm hooked on my 348 (probably less comfortable as a daily driver than a 355) - I even took it to Target yesterday to buy diapers for the new addition to the family - ANY excuse to take it out for a drive! I agree with Tony - it's only money. We'll all be dead one day and we can't take these cars with us (unless you subscribe to the view of the afterlife as presented in Monty Python's "The Meaning of Life") - drive it and enjoy it fully!
I drive mine to work every day whether it's sunny, raining or snowing, all year round basically. It's been fine for the past 3 years and has never let me down. Only problem i have with it is the town centre car parks round here that have steep slopes ... if i ever need to go there i take my land rover.
