Wow, i was not expecting the fight to end in the first round. Maybe Gracie is getting too old for the sport, or it has changed a bit too much for just Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to survive? Either way, Hughes beat the crap out of him! Made me sad
Here it is already, if anyone is interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyUdtrMnfDI&search=Hughes%20Gracie
Gracie didn't do that bad...I knew he wouldn't tap out though....Bet it was breaking Big John's heart watching Royce lose.....That arm bar/lock looked extremely painful....ow about the last fight of the night, dropped the boy out cold....His debut fight and gets put to sleep, ouch.
I enjoyed watching Dean Lister fight. He is amazing on the ground. Don't know how his stand up is, but he will be a force to be reckoned with in the 185lb class. Now I can't wait for Matt Hughes to fight George St. Pierre again. That will be awesome!!
Was it Diego who knocked the guy out using the flying knee after the other guy shook his head mocking him? That dude Just dropped cold.
Gracie has been fighting in other venues than the UFC, but I figured he would have lasted a little longer.....Matt is a machine though, definately knew it was over wen Gracie gave up his back.
I didnt expect the outcome to be different really, but I did hope that Gracie would win. I'm looking forward to seeing the Ken Shamrock and Tito Ortiz fight on June 8th! Those guys hate each other! On a side note, so many celebs in the crowd: Nick Cage Paris Hilton Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson James Cann and a bunch more i cant remember the names off.
I'll be ordering the Shamrock fight as well....Some of the other celebs: Michael Duncan(Green Mile) David Spade Atreyu Cindy Crawford Paul Walker Waynes Brothers
^ Speaking of the Shamrock vs Ortiz fight, who do you think is going to take it? I think shamrock is getting old, Ortiz might hand his a$$ to him again.
Shamrock has been around a little too long....his coaching seems to kind of suck, lol....Tito seems to have the confidence. I think Tito might get a little to over confident and drop his gloves letting Shamrock take it in the 2nd round.
He won against Akobono, lost to Sakuraba a few years back. People generally think of Pride as a much more talented pool of fighters than the UFC crowd.
I cant believe the ammount of pain Royce had to be going through. But you look at his face and he is in a state of meditation. Crazy. He shoulda wore the gui (or gee however you spell it)
I hated Tito until I got to watch Shamrock in the ultimate fighter...I now hope Shamrock gets knocked the f*%# out!! Side note: I hoped for a better fight between Hughes/Gracie...kind of sad! Matt Hughes is a bad man, but Gracie is a legend. RK
Yeah, I hope Samrock loses...It doesn't even look like he's training anyone...Looks like he's always sleeping or training himself.
Yeah, with all the rule changes there was no way he could compete with Hughes. I want to see just how much damage he did to Gracie's elbow. the announcers as well as Hughes said that the elbow snapped. I will give Hughes credit for being a decent man. He could have easily broken his arm because Gracie wouldnt tap out but he chose not to. Whereas Ive seen plenty of Gracie fights where his opponent is tapping out and he refuses to break the hold until the ref pulls him off of the opponent. Congrats to Matt Hughes

no....Big John did stop the fight, sice Gracie was know longer "intelligently" protecting himself according to the rules.
I'll post up the link. Like I said, I'm about 80% convinced. http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=0F7C7AF43C97FDCE Watch the right arm.
eh...I see what you're talking about...but they still declared it a stop....It kinda look like a small tap....damn....
Oh, yeah. I'm not disputing the official results. It just looks that the fight was stopped at the same time he was tapping.
