As someone who remembers how bad the ABC versions were years ago , I think that CBS is doing a pretty good job on this last one. I thought that for major network coverage they did a pretty nice job with the feed that they are given, sure I would like to more of the drivers comments afterwards but I do like that they were able to sell that much US major advertising, after all, like it or not, that is the name of the TV game.

Hey noob, there is a politics forum elsewhere - make use of it and keep it out of the racing section.

I think you are all a little too harsh on Danny Sullivan. He may not have won in F1 but he is an achieved race car driver in his own right. How many of can say that we were a CART champ and had won at Indy? However, I do feel that he can do a little more homework before the race as I think on more than one occuation that he had called the drivers by the wrong names, incorrect pronounciations or just flat out a little confused with his facts and datas. I think it has more to do with not being a seasoned color commentator or he has simply been misinformed. If he wants to stay in broadcasting, he really needs to start doing his homework.

    All imo -

Wow that really sucked, the commentary I mean. Danny Sullivan and some other guy - US b'casters just dont have the 'feel' for F1 commentary....

really REALLY fearing that US broadcasters will 'kill' the World Cup too.

sorry OT - how do I get TV on World Cup in USA mated with BBC commentary? any clues please...if you know. No flames please just wanna know if you know.

    ADE thanks for the input.

Do you get F1 commentary on BBC radio or TV in Merry Ol England?

Here in the US for eg I cant follow BBC coverage of FA cup or any of the ODIs played that are carried on BBC online...none. Aaaaargh. They wont carry them cos of licensing bla bla.

    LOVE those 105s as well.

He obviously hit a nerve - guilty conscience?

Before you rush in and make a fool of yourself, take the advice and leave those sort of comments at the door. If you can't control yourself, then subscribe and then take it to the P&R forum. Other than that, keep it out of here, period.

Big fricken deal. How many of us can say we were a NASCAR champion or even won the Daytona 500. How many of us can say that we won the Baja 1000. How many of us can say that we were the NHRA funny car champion or held the record for quickest 1/4 mile e.t.

You can just through the argument out the Window. Just because he raced doesn't mean we want to hear him talk about Formula 1. If racing is all the qualifications you need then why don't we just get buzillion time NHRA World Funny Car Champion John Force to narrate the F1 race. After all who in F1 has can say they have gone over 320mph.

What a joke, just like Sullivans comentating.

If the CBS producers what someone that the U.S. viewers can relate to as a comentater they should hire Jackie Steward. Jack not only knows about old school F1 but the new school too. The U.S. people know who he is, and Jackie knows what he's talking about. Get rid of the two idiots that are ruining the broad cast. Especially Danny.

Is it just me or is the tone of Shehhens voice really annoying. He is so high pitched. He sounds like he got his scrotum caught in his zipper....

Wow, there is a lot of anger bottled up inside you, isn't there? Think what you want, you are entitle to your opinions as I am to mine.

And who is to say that John Force is not a F1 fan and does not know what's going on in F1? If he had done his homework and knows what he is talking about, I won't mind listening to him as a color commentator at all.

Danny Sullivan was a professional race car driver who had competed and won in a major racing series, which is a lot more than a lot of us can say about ourselves. At the very least, he was a driver at Monaco GP once, how many times have you been there racing in F1 in real life?

I didn't like the CBS broadcast, not only because of the commentary, which made me chuckle at times, how all Danny Sulivan could think of saying in the first 30 minutes was "this is a very narrow track," but also because of some of the filming choices. At the end of the race, when Schumi caught Barrichello, they were showing Alonso driving by himself because he was about to win the race on his last lap. I'm sorry, but I'd rather see a batlle for position than the leader driving around a track like on a pace lap with no one else in sight. Just my $.02 though.

I'm convinced they took notes during the Speed channel coverage of practice and qualifying sessions and just regurgitated the commentary word for word. That would have been fine IMO....but then they tried to add to it....miserably.

I couldn't believe they missed commenting when MS passed Alonso to get on the lead lap. Idiots.

Fire em.....do a deal with Speed....they have it figured out.

Wasn't Brazil the supposed source of the "Fountain of Youth"? :D

One good thing about the CBS broadcast is that it gets Speed to replay the race a week later when they can footnote the actual results, post FIA fiddling.

These days, there's not much point to watching qualifying or the race live, as the results will likely be changed after the fact.

Of course, 800 left turns was pretty boring, too. But at least ABC was running the race in a PIP window during some of the commercials.

I thought the CBS commentary had some humorous comment. After Kimi's engine let go, they commented that "The Mercedes safety car has led more laps this season than the Mercedes race cars."

I got a chuckle out of the "Schumacher has won the Monaco Grand Prix 7 (?) times, but only once on an even year" or something like that. Anyone else catch that?
