Need to ship my 308 from Colorado to Iowa --- I've used Passport / Fed-Ex in the past with very good results, but this time around I like the idea of a smaller (2-car) trailer like Autobahn uses. The car is currently a motor-out, rolling chassis so trying to maneuver it around to get it to the liftgate of a semi-trailer is a pain --- I need a transporter with a rig that can back right up to my garage door, and use a winch to pull the car directly into the trailer.

Autobahn says this is no problem for them --- but, I believe I recall hearing bad things about them before? Anyone have experiences with these guys or any recommendations for another outfit that uses a similar set-up?

    Thanks.

Thanks for the lead, "DieCast" !!!!

I Just got my 308 delivered by Rich at Rich's Classic Transport --- outstanding on service and price! My transport was somewhat unusual --- car not running and no brakes (not even parking brake). Plus, both pickup and drop-off had poor access ---- many carriers couldn't even have handled it, and others wanted outrageous extras fees.

I've used several other transporters over the years, but RCT has been my best experience to date. I believe I was his first F-car delivery as he specializes in AC Cobras and the like.

I hope I wasn't too much of a pain-in-the-neck for him! I warned that we F-car owners can be picky --- but, I'm sure he'd be willing to transport some more.

Definitely give him a call when you book your next move. I recomend him highly.

You're welcome. Glad you're happy with Rich's service. Hope you get your car up and running soon. Do you have any photos you can share?

Passport charges an extra $100 for non-running vehicles. With the engine out, two people can probably push that car around easily, unless your tires are flat or you're on a steep hill. Pushing by hand is probably safer than using a winch.

YES -- STAY AWAY FROM THEM!

I shipped a ZR-1 a few years ago, and they damaged the front end while lowering it. The damage was almost $1000 and it took me over 4 months of dickering with these guys to collect. They outsource most, if not all, their jobs with independents of unknown reliability and credibility.

If you want the BEST service, go with Horseless Carriage. No brainer.

I have a car in shipment right now. I got feedback from several people and found a few options that looked reasonable. I selected VIP Transport but DJ Transport got good recomendations as well. I think DJ is a member here too.

    Good luck
