Glad you found the problem always feels good when an engine is running normal again. Huh and I thought it was the O2 sensors, HaHaHa. Regards, Vern

no, you said it would be the thermo-couplers! :)

It's the little things that eat away at you. Just took a load off my shoulders so to speak.

I have the knob/turn switch on my 348 which is also fitted with Motronic 2.7 ignition. Further, I have an aftermarket battery charger fitted on-board in the front trunk which connects direct to AC power for charging the battery.

I assume from what has been discussed that one should not disconnect the battery (whether by turning the knob/switch or via direct disconnection of the lead at the actual battery) when the car is not in use, unless there is a problem with the battery. So is it safe to charge my battery with the AC current when the battery is connected and/or does this affect the ECU settings? Winter storage cars in the USA and UK must encounter the above situations when the car is not used regularly.

I would say you are correct in not shutting off power for storage unless their really is no reason to do so. Unless like you said if you need to do for some reason, ie; work on the car, reset ECUs etc. When you charge the battery I would recommend not using a "battery charger" but use a "battery tender". Chargers are hard on batteries if left on for long periods of time such as thru storage periods. Regards, Vern
