From a friend's house in Hamden CT. I've never been before, so I'm not familiar with the area. Where are you?

I was also thinking of heading up the Taconic...I have family with a second home on Lake Mahopac, it's a nice area to go for a drive.

So where are we meeting again? and will there be a caravan from NYC to the meeting point? Promise this time I won't go out into the wee hours on Saturday, like I did the last time.

    :(

Guys, keep me posted on the location. If you're headed pretty far north, it might make more sense for me to meet you there.

    Great.
What I remember was very scenic drives over some deserted bridges and next to water reservoirs... Lake Mahopac was really nice. Unfortunetly I didn't get a chance to eat at one of the resturants there, so I won't be able to comment on the food, but the drive along the lake to the point where 6N and 6 meet was pretty nice.
Taconic is a really nice and smooth highway. There are only couple of highways that I enjoy driving on, Palisades PKY and Taconic are on top of the list.
About 2 weeks ago there was construction going on Taconic, but there were still 2 lanes open, and I'm pretty sure there won't be any problems that early on a sunday morning.

Actually there isn't a Coldstone in Ridgewood. There is a Ben & Jerry's, Maggie Moo's and Van Dykes not to mention Haggen Daz.

As for me being Mapquest...well it all comes from preparation.

Thanks for the compliments though. :)

Ok, not to detract from the ice cream talk (and I'm sure we're all looking forward to the "ice cream run" :) , but Nip and other NYC fchatters, has there been a definite meet point in the city set up yet for Sunday morning?

If you decide to come to the Mahopac area I can recommend some great roads and a fantastic restaurant. Route 301 is a 17 mile run that starts in Carmel and ends up in Cold Spring. It's mostly a two lane twistie that for a good streach is 55 MPH. carves through the middle of Putnam and is not heavily traveled. You can pick up 9D to Bear Mountain where there is a wide variety of great roads. As for a restaurant there is Fratelli's II, located on rt. 6 in Mahopac, been there several times, it won't disappoint. Would like to make on of these runs sometime, have fun be safe.

    Thanks for the info Bob!

I'm going to send you a PM to discuss this route. I assume that you can't join us on Sunday based on previous plans?
