    Its a sticker under the clearcoat. You can tell - lift the hood and run your fingers over the edge as it wraps around the lip into the trunk space.

    my car has factory strip. AFAIK, it's vinyl but clearcoated so as to blend seamlessly with paint . If you open the trunk and look where the stripe finishes , it doesn't look hand painted. I could be wrong , however ;)

    At this point, I would like to stand corrected... I was wrong - most of you were right - it is, in fact, a sticker and not paint. The "tape" (as it was described to me) is put on, then there is a clear coat that is put on over it...

    Could you send a hi-res version of blue car to me via email.
    I like the second photo, which indicates a lighter shade of blue.
    I've seen it in person at Crystal Cove. IMHO it is quite stunning and a one of a kind.
