:(, im still trying to forget about it. It started out as a good match, we did pretty well the first half. Then came the second we got too defensive and the defense just went to sleep, one mistake after another.

Man, you guy's should have seen College St. (Little Italy) blow up yesterday! I barely made it home. I had my little Portugal flag waving on my Land Rover and I coulda swore I was gonna get jacked! ;) LOL It's all good.

On that note. It's ashame that when you have these great international events it brings out the scum in our communities. Some low life Portuguese kids stabbed each other, others attacked TTC streetcars etc. Losers. They ruin it for everone and make us all look bad. They don't even speak Portuguese or know anything about Portugal. Oh well.

Overall I enjoyed Portugal's first win.

Especailly in thier italian cars lol!!

Vasco, to bad that happens......its only a flipping game.

If these people put this much effort into wrold poverty, and or other causes, imagine the beautiful world we would have.

Im surprised College street would be packed with Italians still, its mostly other nationalities..........up here and the concord area, was pretty tame.

I was down in Woodbridge last night and holy hell, it was mayhem in the evening. All sorts of fanatics with gigantic flags waving out of the car windows, covering up rear windhields and dangling on the hood, etc etc. Oh and don't forget the yelling and honking.

Over here, all I see are England flags eveyr two seconds.

Is it just me; or is it that anyone that is not Italian dislike the Italian National Team? There is so much hate out there for us, it makes me sick.

The cup seemingly gives idiots justification to behave like idiots without consequence, and evidently moreso this year.

I see more bad things happening, whether it's on College, Dundas or up in Woodbridge.

It's not just the World Cup though........but look at the Edmontonian fans mayhem during the Oilers run to Stanley Cup final......hockey in June...what a joke !!!

Its not you, its pretty evident. You need to look at the facts of why.

    Italians in general control large markets ;

The fashion world (Armani, Valentino.......and many others where are the portuguese, spanish and others countries as far as fashion design?)

Food ( Pasta, pizza...chefs and resturants around the world..........again, when was the last time you said to yourself you feel like Portuguese food, or Brazillian wine ?)

Cars do i need to go there ( Ferrari, lambo....again where are the car makers of Spain, England.......please dont say lotus or jaguar)

Art.......we all heard of M. Angelo.

The largest realestate holding company in the world worth billions uopn billions is owned by the Roman Cathloic church...again in Italy.

Not to mention the Cathloic church itself is also located in Rome, bit of a sour point for some Christians..especially European ones.

The list continues. The rich history and the fact that Italians in general remain a dominant force in these areas still to this day around the world a sense of resentment from other countries creates the anomosity.

Sort of like the US public relations disaster around the world right now. Americans are not bad people, they are great people and believe in freedom, but the middle east sees them as oppressors.

Not a fair comparison , but im trying to ilustrate why there seems to be this dislike towards italians. If they can beat italians at soccor on the international stage and maybe the team even fails it gives them hope within there own culture and nationalism that they are great at something themselves.

Case in point.........would you buy any other vodka besides a Russian one ? Probably not........its the whole nationalism, home country thing at look at us "we're great too' thats all it is.

Yes john i am a Canadian first, but my roots are Italian.

I don't think it has to do anything with being jealous of Italians, I think people just get fed up with all the drama. On and off the pitch it seems like a damn soap opera....lol

The intrepretation is up to you.

I may say tomato, you may say to-mato.........at the end of the day its the same thing.

If you intrepret it as "jealous" then you need to look at yourself and ask the question why ?

What i said is it not fact ?

I sure could go for one of those "cold" Asian beers....on tap please.

    LOL...getting a little deep aren't we?

First you list all the things the Italians HAVE then you mention that other people/countries resent them because of this, now how is this not jealousy? How about we call it envious? Same result in the end. Going back to my original post, I don't think it has anything to do with this and it all comes down to the unneeded DRAMA

you can never go deep enough !!!! lol !!

Good choice of words, but i must still disagree.

There is a difference between prejudice and racist...........therefore, there is a difference between jealousy and envious.

Thank you Rick, very well put. I guess thats why so many people (be Brazillian or not) cheer for Brazil because Soccer is mostly what they are known for. Not to overlook their Beautiful Women, Beaches and Beer. LOL.

Oh my, you're not pulling the race card are you? Everyone around the world experiences racism and some a lot more then Italian's will ever experience.

I don't judge anyone by their race but by their actions

Now back on TOPIC, I can't believe the Fra - Sui game is still scoreless, what the hell happened to France?
