Just wondering if anyone remembers a place likely back in the 80s called Select Auto in Calgary, I vaguely remember this place as a kid, don't know if I ever when there, but I'm thinking it was a Rolls Royce and Ferrari dealer? Authorized or not, I'm not sure.

Also, is Allesandro Motors still around? I remember they used to do service on exotics if I remember correctly.

And then theres Mr. Donald Hoplock. ET, ET1, ET2, then the infamous "Ferrari Gallery" that he got in some hot water over with FNA. Where is he now?

Open Road Motors. Small showroom (1 car upstairs, more down) off MacLeod near Heninger Toyota just a few years back. Are they still around? Still remember the 308s they always had kicking around.

Would love to trace back some exotic dealer roots in Calgary (for curiousity sake and to find out if Select Auto was just a dream of mine or really existed). Where are they now? Any other places that I failed to mention and anyone can suggest?

I'm betting that KDS is the first respondent to this thread!!

What do I win in the bet?

Select was real, but I only know from here-say; it was before my time as well.

I know Don is in Vancouver.

Open Road shouldn't even be mentioned.

What about "Carriage Lane Motors" ??? Anyone here remember them from the late 70's to early 80's ? It was "the" exotic store in Calgary.......Porsche, RR, Ferrari, etc, etc........

Jack Carter Chev-Olds used to do almost "all" the exotic leasing back then as well..........they always had a pretty interesting basement garage full of cars for sale from time to time.

Remember in the late 70's when Cooke Motors was on 3rd Avenue SW downtown in the west Eau Claire area selling MG, Triumph and Jaguar's ? I bought a brand new TR7 convertible (don't ask me why) from Des Houston back then....who still basically works for the same place, albeit now a Jag/Subara store now in the NE.

How about "Sports Tune" on 36 Avenue SE........

Hoplock is flogging boats in Vancouver IIRC..........

Sandro is still running his thriving shop and working on things Italian......

I remember Select Auto too....John Chorney is retired now but still around......

I'm sure 2nastie (who has been around as long as me) will chime in.............

Yes, i do remember Select Auto back in the 80's on 8th Avenue and Centre Street North. If i do recall, a Red Testarossa was stolen from their showroom.

As for Don, he is selling Yacht in Vancouver.

    ^^^ Different, but sad nonetheless.

Wasn't the original Select Auto swallowed up by the T&T group?
