Had an interesting situation with a Ferrari I was doing fluid changes on for an individual. When draining the oil I had removed about 12 quarts from this engine instead of the 9 that should be the max. amout this car holds. After talking with the owner had stated that the level was low when he checked it so he added 3 quarts. You can guess when he checked it. Anyway the real problem showed up when I was changing the gearbox fluid and had to remove the airbox to refill that sump. Guess what I found in the intake ducts between the air filter and throttle bodies..oil, and lots of it. Needless to say I spent a few hours cleaning the intake tracts and plenum to get the oil out. To make a long story short check a dry sump car's oil level immediately after shut down. If all else fails read the oil section of the owners manual on your cars when you first buy the car. Regards, Vern

here is a clip out of the 360 Modena owner's manual. They recommend checking it while the engine is on (warmed up) and at idle (makes for a warm hand, let me tell you!). They also state that you just rest the cap on the threads when you check, not screw it back down.

I'll attach a page from the manual below. As you say, don't make the mistake of checking it when the motor is cold - it will appear as if there is no oil in the car :)

Nope... you missed the update... 360's (and all Ferrari models can be done this way too) are to be checked with the engine off immediately after shut down...

What happens if you relocate or replace your oil tank?

I have a CD with most of the TSB's and updates. Was this something sent to you directly by FN? I just purchased my 360, so I'm going by the manual that came with it.

Let me know where to find any updated, etc - thanks!

It's an insert and a reprint for the owners handbook.

Simply consult your local dealer/specialist periodically to find out technical up dates. There is no one specific source for this stuff.

You guys are wrong. Ferraris with drysump oiling are two stroke motors. The extra oil mixes with the gas on purpose That's why they sound the way they do....What do you think about that?

That information above is incorrect for the 360 as far as checking the oil level. Please see this post:
