Can we get an PM with an address and basic directions to your place Sean? Can we bring anything. let us know. I'm planning on bringing a video to tape us all racing down the strip. Russ if you come can I rride shotgun and video one trip down the track from the inside of your toy? See you down there, Rain date?
Rain date would be the 21st. We will be bringing professional high definition cameras to shoot the event. You are welcome to bring your own cameras as well.
If anyone wants to meet up and head down to Sean's. Let me know. I live in the Western 'Burbs. A couple of blocks away from the Oakbrook Mall at IL.RT.83 & Cermak Rd. (22nd.St.) We have to be at Seans by 4PM. So, meet at the Oakbrook Shopping Center parking lot, along the Route 83 side (West side) By the middle Traffic Light going in around 3PM. We'll "Roll Off" around 3:15-3:20PM-LATEST! My Cell # is: 630-292-3869.
As of 2:10 PM on Tuesday the 20th, it is still on. The radar shows clouds breaking up, so there may be a light sprinkle here and there, but by the time we go to the track, it should be good. At least according to the National Weather Service animated radar online. ... Sean
What a great time. Quite a trip to take a Ferrari down the drag strip. Thanks Andreas for setting it up. 14.429 was all I could muster. Owners manual says 13.25? I don't know where I would get another second.
Yes, what a great evening! Thanks to Andreas & Sean for setting it all up. And Andreas for the cool Tropies! And, much thanks to Karen & Sean (and Liam... ) for their wonderful hospitality! For those of you that missed it....you really did miss a great time. Nice to see everyone who did show up.
Frank! Thanks for the hand with my Son. He had fun with your Son, and that really made it easy for me. Your the man! Great seeing all of you.
I had a good time. My best time in the TR is 14.1, which was last year. This at least beats the magazine with the worst time of 14.2, but the best time a magazine got was 13.1. I think the only way to gain that extra second is to risk your clutch with a high RPM takeoff, and then power shifting (foot on the floor the whole time, quick shifts). I was having problems with getting into 2nd when redlining in 1st. If anybody has a list of the RPM sweet spots for different gears in a TR, I'd like to see it. Anyway, I wasn't so brutal in the car today, so my best time was 14.5. I think my biggest problem has always been the launch. Anyway, thanks to those who braved the weather, and it turned out to be fine when we got to the track, with almost no wait time (actually after everybody left, Randy and I got to run 3 times in a row with nobody in front of us). We all know Andreas will be back next time with a vengeance.
Pictures? Glad to hear others made it and a good time was had. I'm sorry we weren't there - I was looking forward to Haley getting her first chance to take something with power down the 1/4 mile. I've had a lot of cars that were useless in the turns, but great for the 1/4.. It would have been a great present to myself to have had the chance to take a turn at the tree against something like the Enzo We will see you all soon Chelle
Thanks and congrats to the brave souls who brought their Ferraris to this very unusual venue. Thanks to Sean and his family for the wonderful hospitality. Including the one now given to my car... And thanks to Dr. Car Michael for the diagnose and Rick for the ride home. And before any of the know-it-alls yell "Told you so!": My car broke down BEFORE the event. Imagine it had happened afterwards... Pictures to follow.
No wonder you were tired after calling the lead car about 5,000 times on the phone... ...and yes, that did count as a Route 66 Historic drive.
LOL! Yes, I was just trying to take your mind of of your unfortunate circumstance and make you (and Rick) laugh a little....Hope it worked!... Absolutely! (on our 2006 Historic Route 66 Drive) And we also passed the old "Stateville U".....Does that count as our first official "FOC Historic Prisons Drive"...?.... Maybe we should have stopped at Crazy Rock for a few beers and lap dances... Frankie could have taken a nap in the car.... JUST KIDDING!!!!!!
Here the shots of the brave gladiators who entered the arena. To those that missed the event, fear not, we'll do this again next year. If nothing else but to give me a fair chance at running. You know, if you use some of that super high octane Racing Gas that they had there.(I saw 111, 113, and 120.) and barely any gas in the tank. And take out your Air Filter element and leave the Air Intake open, could just get your times down a tad. Every teeny little bit helps when Drag Racing. Properly inflated tires. Take everything out of the car that you can. Keep your pop up Lights off. (down). Even a super shiny Buff and wax job will all help. No kidding. Try all of that stuff next time and see.
Finally the last participant of this event came home. Took a detour via Palatine where she met some of her friends: Skip, Tony with his 360 (which now is even more golden), her brother and another 308. It was almost like a club meet at Ed's. Good to see ya again Skip and thanks for the ride.
