    I have just purchased a 430 and like most I feel the car sits WAY to high. I am going to lower it 25mm and I was wondering what that will look like. I do not want the wheels to look too tight in the wells but to have a fit like a 360 CS. Does anyone have a car lowered 25mm that can send me photos especially of the wheels in the wells?

    why does everyone thinks that !!!
    i think its great and doesnt need lowering, specially when you go on a speed bump, mine already scratches the bumps and its not lowered

    anyways good luck, just my opinion, you may need to consider that if you are going to use the car a lot.

    We all agree....
    I'd think more about 10-12mm
    25mm may be more than you had bargained for.

    I have my car at FX Performance and will be picking it up today. I am going about 20-25 mm with a alignment adjustment to correct the under steer.

    Please check the Souther Cal forum as I will post some pictures tonight.

    Zuki thanks for the photos it is all telling. The car I am getting is Giallo with CS wheels just like the spider that you have photographed. I agree that 25mm looks perfect and gives a much better stance. I am also going to space my wheels out 15mm in the front and 20mm in the back have you considered doing this Zuki? I am doing the work at CEC with Novitec spacers.

    I used to lower cars (Datsuns mainly). We'd take the suspension part, cut/reweld it, use smaller shocks, etc. Drop the car maybe 4 inches so it would handle better. To do it properly, requires a lot of work and realigning the suspension, etc.

    I don't know about the Ferrari. I noticed it has threaded collars, but I don't know if that's how you go about lowering it. I would assume it is. That would also probably reduce the travel however.

    Myself, I think the boys in Italy know what they are doing.. so when it comes to the 355, 360, 430, etc. I'm going to leave well enough alone :) My 360 is low enough if you ask me (or the drive ways around town - which were obviously poured by guys who drive trucks :).

    No offense, but the silver car in the photos above is dangerously close to looking like a low-rider if you ask me. I sure wouldn't go lower! :)

    Every video I have seen from people reviewing the 430 highlights that the nose gets very close indeed (if not touching) to the ground under severe braking. This has been confirmed by friends who have driven the 430's on track/airfield days and heard the nose scraping the tarmac.

    If you lower the 430 without stiffening the suspension then aren't you limiting how spirited you can drive the car?

    yeah, also what about speed bumps etc etc?? how practical is the car once this has been done?

    Garrett,

    Since Tom at Lucent Motors did the lowering and alignment on your car (as he also did mine), it was lowered a tad less than 3/4" -- more like 14-15mm.

    I would respectfully suggest that lowering the F430 25mm (w/o changing springs at a minimum) is too much and will adversely affect handling, forget about the scraping issues. ;) At 25 mm lower, I guarantee that the bump stops will come into play under certain road conditions. You might be able to get away with 20mm, but that would be the maximum IMHO, for whatever it's worth.

    The car pictured below was lowered ~14-15mm....

    Actually, I'm wrong -- I just heard from Tom that you went back for more of a drop, so your car is 3-4 mm lower. :D

    I do not think you will have any problem at euro spec height. which is around 15-20 mm lower than usa spec. I have yet to hit the bump stops.

    I guessing bump stops = speed bumps (lol, I love how different we speak in the world). Jeremy Clarkson said he kept catching the nose on speed bumps, you reckon Ferrari lifted the car slightly to stop this? or he just lives in an area with ridiculous speed bumps. Where I live there are all types of speed bumps, they are not uniform in height, even on a normal car sometimes it scrapes (although VERY rarely, and dependent on the speed you take them.. hehe..)

    No, bump stops are the limit stops on suspension travel, not anything on the road.
