I absolutely do. Greg is a classy gent who tried to make light of things, but again his action was viewed as provocative by Vik. Instead of the mature way of IM greg and try to work things out, Vik immediately banned him.

Look none of us are saints, but when we realize we made mistakes, we admit to it.

Vik: in your response to Greg, you said how come he still haven't let go over this event that happened over a year ago. My question to you is Vik have you let go your issue with the EC?

I have been a member of f-chat for over 5 years and have made many new friends through the process. John is one of those individuals and as every one has said before he has always come across as a very sincere and honeset person who says things as they are and is not influenced by what people percive as right or wrong. Many people like John were a member of f-chat and after Vik became mod most of them decided to leave. I am still friends with most of them but f-chat is a site where people are not allowed to speak what is right or wrong instead what is considered politically correct by Vik (talking only about the NYTS section). I have come to accept this fact as have many others who left f-chat.

On a side note i agree with John that Vik's is not consistent with his actions for example on f-chat he will take actions against any individual who makes personal attacks on other members becuase he considers that to be wrong. Well that sounds good but Vik than turns around and makes personal attacks against me on another site Those actions don't seem very consistent.

Look at this post someone made:

You and I both know that was clearly in violation of rules for name calling and personal attacking, did you do anything??

Not going to judge either way on the past since there's such a complicated history behind all of this. From a 3rd party perspective, there have been some rough edges on both sides - which happens in conflicted situations all the time.

Vik and John - you're both successful guys who have strong, well-rationed opinions. That's not going to make either of you step aside for the other.

Will probably piss both sides off but -
Vik can be a little heavy handed in the way he moderates.... but the majority of John's post isn't very concrete; it reads more like a personal attack, written like a list of commands to follow.

Worked up? No. More like amazed that I was banned for making a statement about certain types of cars I disliked. I just thought it was hanndled in a totalitarian, immature manner.(As do a few others here) If memory serves me correctly I sent indiv. IM appoliges to Pchop, and Woodear and both said it wasnt neccessary and that they both understood what I was saying. Two questions. Why dont I see this type of criticism being leveled twords Sam. What would have happened if I said I only like Ferraris because this is Ferrari chat and I hate lamborghinis. (Which I dont.)

As I said to you before Greg, no need to apologize to me. Because some of us are mature enough to know the difference between light hearted comment vs. biased attacks.

How are you? fyi, your NYPD shield saved my a$$ again in Upstate New York three weeks ago. Clocked 80 in a 55 but suddenly down to 40 MPH zone. Then the cop spent the next 20 minutes chitchatting with me about the car ;)

Hey Guys -- 1998 called, they want their group of 8th grade girls back.

I've never really had the pleasure to meet any NYC Fchat folks, but I do know a few EC guys. They all seem like very pleasant folk in person. However, they definately are very open about being an "exclusive" club. I was sort of hoping that some of these guys would be a little more approachable since we all share a bound of owning a sportscar in Manhattan -- not a small feat. But alas, that was not really the case.

Anyway, too bad their can't be more of a NYC bond. Afterall, this is the best city in the world. And if anybody disagrees, let me know and I'll be over to kick your ass.

EC is not a car club, or AOL chat room NYC.

If every cool guy with a sports car in NY should be EC, EC will have tens thousands members already, thats not what EC is about. There are more than several car forums for that purpose already.

EC is about brotherhood, where they visualize and attack, where they less talk and more do, where everyone does what they can to contribute to the colony and help eachother out.
You don't need a fancy car to be on EC, you don't need to be someone in high places to be on EC. You just need to understand our ways and share our vision, and to contribute.

The aboving being said, EC is not commercialized like Ferrarichat, they do not charge membership, so it's not feasible to be an open forum and have tons of users. It does not mean we think we are better that's why you are not welcomed.

Hope that clears up things abit.

Yep I think that about clears it up. You're *definately* not a snob.

I have yet to find an internet car group, that has such a high regard for itself. It's a forum, not the Navy Seals for christsake! This isn't a case "where thousands apply and only one will be chosen." Do you guys all wear black robes, chant in pig latin and sacrifice a virgin goat on the equinox?

Do you do infomercials on the side? I don't even know what that means. What attack do you visualize? The one where you guys all descend on Prada in unison? I have no idea what your "mission statement" is but, I guess I don't share it since I was uncerimoniously booted from EC. Why is it that you assume I am not somebody in a high place? EDITED by moderator
Ferrarichat may have paid sponsors but they sure as hell aren't going to remove people for not meeting their standard of "cool." Sure Ghost may seem arbitrary and even a tad unpleasant with sending people to ban camp -- but perhaps you are tasting a bit of the medicine you guys so happily dole out.

Anyway back on-topic, I like Hubbie -- he's a real character. I read the whole post where he was banned, then reinstated. Seems like a real chinese fire drill. I suppose Ghost could've been a little more pleasant in his actions, and he certainly could've offered up an apology. That being said, I think you guys should also accept that you are neither saints, nor victims here. If this where a jury trial it would be hard for anyone to empathize with an EC guy. Not to mention that you guys have ridden roughshot over MANY people here (just look at poor Tiger Woods aka Keith!) and handed out plenty of STFU yourselves.

Anyway move on already, you guys left FChat because it wasn't a place "where they visualize and attack, where they less talk and more do." Now, you want back in? I though the whole point of EC was a place where you kids could make your own rules?

    Be good people!

    Nabbs,

The problem with the internet is that it's really hard to tell the tone. There are a lot of very very good guys that makes up the EC. There are a few members that are rather opinionated and hence construed as being arrogant and intigators...but please do not generalize "EC Guys" = Bad.

Don't forget all original EC guys comes from this board; F-Chat has a lot of great ppl however, there are also quite a few ppl who are double faced (i.e. say I like everyone on F-chat organize a BIG run to show how nice he is, but then behind their back say hey let's do this a secret run, don't post it on F-chat, b/c I don't want to invite pple who don't have Ferrari/Lambo, and I want to make it exclusive to just the Ferrari's/Lambo, or ppl that likes to reap the benefit off other members. (i.e. shows up for parties, drink and skip out on bills).

Nabb, I can give my house keys to ANY EC guys and feel complete comfortable...and if I'm stranded on a highway 3 hours away, I know one of the EC guys will drive that far to come and save my a$$.

If you wish, you can PM me and we can chat more.

Pchop -- I know it dude. I've driven a few EC guys to pick up their rides, and I completely understand the camradarie and bond between friends. When you've got hommies who will drop everything to help out, and you'll do the same -- it's a beautiful thing. I respect that, period.

Like I said, the guys I know from EC definately fit that bill. From the most random things (like Gene helping me with a work with thing) to car stuff, these guys have always been class acts in person. However, I do take exception to some of the online folks who just seem like they have egos bigger then Napolis' wallet. I have always been a very un-assuming person, and I don't want to hang out with people to compete with them -- we all work like dogs, and car stuff and people is supposed to be fun, not a second job.

What really does irk me is the fact that I personally was told to take a hike from EC - for whatever reason. That whole process reminded me of handing out party invitations to some 4th grade birthday party, and only inviting the "cool" kids. Definately, a very shocking move to be hanging out with people who one second are all cool with you, and the next you learn you're not in the club anymore. I'm not even saying I want back on EC, just that I find it, well, arbitrary -- and I am sure I am not alone on this. When you juxtapose this arbitrary process by the EC messageboard and FChat, I'm sure you will find that even if Ghost is a little bit on a powertrip, he still lightyears less arbitrary then insidetheec.

Because of this you also have to understand that your self-posturing of "the colony" is definately going to ruffle feathers. You guys broke off to form an exclusive club -- which I can respect and understand. But I think than when you get backlash about it you guys should also know that it is not completely unwarranted.

    -N

PS - sorry we never met in person, but I want you to know that I voted you "best facial expressions in 05 and 06."

you can be sarcastic all you want, and you are entiled to your opinon whether it's right or wrong. Fact is, people who know me in person, can tell you if I am snob or not.

Again, to me, sarcasm equals bitterness.
When you set up your own forum, feel free to decide how big of the group size you want to participate, and how the participants shall be chosen.

I do not know what you wrote before it was edited by moderator.
But you probably read it wrong, because I said "one does NOT need to be someone in high places to be EC".

This is the whole point that you are missing.
Ferrarichat is a commercialized open forum. Anyone can register and be a member. The size of revenue largely depends on the size of the site, the weekly traffic and how many hits per day and etc... Thus more member the better.
EC is free, EC is private, EC is not run on the same principle as Ferrarichat.

    The difference is:
On EC, rules are carried out unbiased, not the case on Ferrarichat.

Hey at least we agree on something.

Ahh you see, this is the biggest wrong assumption on EC by Fchat members :)
This is not about EC vs. Fchat, this is not about EC wanting to be back.
This is about if a certain moderator is suitable for the job.

Yes, there were EC members that were banned (fairly or not, you make your own judgement), there were EC members who left on their own in protest.
But there were also people who were posting on both EC and Fchat, who were LONGTERM members and supporters of Fchat, who liked both places ... Over the time, they stopped posting here, because a certain moderator's biased practise made this a unwelcoming place for them. You can read the old post about ghost's moderator approval poll, you can see the input from many old/valued members of Fchat.
