In April I was at the Ferrari store at the Wynn resort in Las Vegas. They had this beautiful pair of snow skis that were Ferrari red and labled the same. The clerk insisted that Ferrari made the skis. She was probably missinformed in that the technical developement costs to produce that type of sporting good [skis and bindings] would be in the low eight figures. Does anybody know who makes them or what ski that they are comparabe to in performance? Although I am a gambler,at 2200 a pair I wouldn't want to buy a pair of lemons.

I haven't seen these. I do own 2 pairs of Porsche skis. These are made by Volkl of Germany and are basically a production Volkl ski with different graphics. Porsche used them as a promotional item in Europe and would visit various resorts and allow people to try the skis.

At $2200 for the Ferrari ski, they are either a) similar to the Porsche ski in that they are a re-skinned production ski and OUTRAGEOUSLY priced, or b) a unique ski developed for Ferrari and maybe worth the money. Do you have photos or other info?

2010 US $ on the Ferrari site (no need to have access to the owner's site). My guess is that it is something similar to the Porsche skis, i.e. top manufacturer's items with Ferrari graphics. To manufacture top skis involves expertise and specific skills that, IMHO, Ferrari does not have (and does not need).

Paying $2,000 for skis with the Ferrari logo on them is God's way of telling you that you have too much money and not enough brains.

Colnago is the bicycle manufacturer, not the ski's one. As far as I know Colnago never manufactured skis.

I also own a pair of porsche skis - which are, as correctly pointed out, re-skinned Volkll - and remarkably good, actually... I looked at the ferrari skis on the site, they are not the same ones - they look more like carving skis, but i would bet a LOT that Ferrari does not manufacture them...it would be simply insane to hand produce 399 pairs.... look at the bindings, they might give you a clue as to who the manufacturer is, they probably made a package deal and customized the lot...

I have been out from the ski industry for a couple of years now (not much snow in the Philippines...).
    Are the bindings Salomon?

Dear Patriek can you give me the website for the skis? I am not sure that I know what the owners website is. Oddly enough I was back to the Wynn this past weekend. My Testarossa is'nt my only vice. I love to play poker at the big B. I asked the kid that was running the store that night if he knew who made the skis and he swore that Ferrari did. When I asked him who made the surfboard that was there he explained how Ferrari can make anything and did the glass layups theirselves. GIVE ME A BREAK...A BIG BREAK! Yes I left the store...empty handed. Even my 14 yearold daughter thought the kid was fundamentall missinformed. I still think they are the choicest looking skis and at 14 or 1500 dollars they are tempting. Thanks!

I bought my Porsche skis on eBay (with Marker Motion bindings) for $100 last year!! Yes, they were demos from Europe and scratched on top but I love them. They are reskinned Volkl P50. My other pair are somewhat odd and appear to be a powder ski - they're titanium and #12 of 50 pairs made. Another $100 eBay item. Those are mounted on my office wall for decoration. :)

Well, it looks like Schumi knows the best skis made afterall - here he is with a pair of German-made Volkl's, reskinned in Ferrari livery!

You can have any pair of ski's relaminated with anything you want. I used to be a competitive skier and could only ski the sponsored ski of the year so I had my trusty Kastles re laminated with some custom art.

The bottoms are a the tricky part.

BTW did Ferrari design and make my 360 Modena Clock/Barometer? ;)
