Bummer, still there will be something in the pipeline i imagine. A friend of mine's parents use to own two a couple of decades ago. Saw pics of them both, red and yellow (one for him and one for her) in the driveway, classic picture!

Odly I prefer the 3200's styling with boomerang rear lights, both fantastic cars though, just as long as you're near a specialist with the correct diagnostic boxes, had a chap call a couple of months ago who had been charged £200 by the dealers in Manchester just for them to plug the box in......got a nice bottle of whisky when he came down and found out we dont charge for plugging the car in just for fixing it :)

I have already bored a great number of people with the continuing saga of the theft of my immaculate J-reg Rover 416GSi - but there's more and now with pictures.

It disappeared last Monday from Billericay (Essex) and turned up 2 days later in Bury St Edmunds (Suffolk) - on the Tuesday it picked up a speeding ticket in Ware (Hertfordshire).
I am a bit of an innocent in these matters but it looks as though a simple screwdriver was all that was used in the theft. Initially to force the lock and then to rip off the plastic & metal that covered the barrel for the ignition key. Hey presto - the screwdriver can then be used instead of a key to start/stop the engine. In fact that is how I have been driving the car around today...

Note (for your amusement) that the villains filled my boot up with a load of old timber and other junk. Absolutely no respect for a modern classic. The locking filler cap also proved no deterrent this was unceremoniously ripped off. The exhaust has obviously taken a hit as it is blowing from the manifold. They even nicked my mud encrusted fishing boots!

The first person who suggests that the crap left in the boot is worth more than the car itself will get crossed off my Christmas Card list.

Pete - just saw your comment.
The Rover badge on the bonnet has been missing for many years.
When I lived in Hackney some w*nker was quietly using my car as a donor vehicle. Over the course of several weeks I had several pieces of external trim removed, the aforementioned badge and one wheel was exchanged. (Seriously, they didn't just nick the wheel and tyre and prop the car up on bricks, they actually replaced my wheel & brand new tyre with a wheel and bald tyre)

Other highlights of owning this car have been when picking the then girlfriend (now wife) up in the City late in the evening. Whilst waiting outside a pub 3 fellas jumped in and demanded that I take them 'sarf of the river... in hindsight I should have taken the fare.

You are getting real close to 2000 posts - I believe that Rob Lay sends you a telegram to mark the occasion :D

it just amazes in life the complete losers who will stop at nothing to get something for free, a badge that anyone could get at a scrappy for a couple of quid, and they risk getting a criminal record (thats if they don't already have one as long as your arm)
