I hope he goes to Renault and beats the heck out of Alonso in the McLaren. MS should stay with Ferrari next year as there's a favorable probability for him to secure that 8th championship. His competition would be Kimi, not Alonso. This is assuming that there's not a last minute contract buy-out on behalf of Alonso.

Lol your boy Irvine? Yeah cause MS was laid up with that broken leg for 6 races. Even then Ol' Irv only outscored him by 30 points.

That's when he retires. To think that MS would allow a driver as fast as Kimi as his teammate on equal terms at this point in his career is ridiculous, considering that he has never done it at any point in his career once he established himself. All the talk about MS grooming Kimi to take over his place when he retires is crazy. Why on earth would he do that? Plus, how much work does Kimi need other than being easier on his car? He blazing fast already and is a number one driver in everybody's book why would Kimi demote himself to lick MS's boots even if it is for a year?

I think Kimi's best choice would be to go to Renault, but of course I wish he would come to Ferrari, but like everyone is saying MS probably wouldn't like that.

I'm sure the broken leg had nothing to do with it.

    You didn't see the smiley?

Of course MS is the better driver, but Irv is so much more fun.

Be careful what you wish for:
Kimi in the Renault would beat MS in the Ferrari. But then again Kimi in the Ferrari would beat MS in the Ferrari as well.

As long as Kimi gets out of the McLaren, he'll be fine next year. :)

Maybe... the Ferrari has been developed for Schumi for the past decade though (roughly). It definitely is built to fit him physically, and it seems that their electronics, etc. are setup to match his style. In other words, he seems to like being busy in the cockpit (constantly has his left hand off the wheel changing brake bias, mixtures, etc.). I'm not sure many other drivers are so keen on this. Most of them seem to always have both hands on the wheel, using the toggles to make small adjustments to bias, etc.

Just my $.02, but I think MS can still do the most with a complicated or slow car. ie, put FA, MS, and KR in a Ferrari and I'd pick MS. Put all three in the Renault and I'd lean towards KR.

So getting off into the marbles and sliding off the track and losing second place consistutes "pulling over for his new teammate" ? Highly doubtful

Kimi is getting the McLaren to do things Meatball (JPM) can only dream about. He has come a long way since joining F1 but the McLaren/Mercedes' unreliability is obscuring it. I think Kimi would spank MS if they both were in Ferraris.

And regarding his "pulling over" to let MS go by, I was at the hairpin and can tell you the track surface was treacherous. There were no rubber marbles. All the material on the outside of the line was oily gravel. You didn't have to put a wheel off to get caught out; the track surface on the line was breaking up more and more as the cars came through.

I love to hear Kimi speak. He doesnt care. Laid back, calm, cool, collected, means concentrated on the edge. Besides, my wife thinks he's hot.

He should go to Renault so he can become the Champion that he is capable of being. He might do well at Ferrari, or the whole team may fall apart without MS.

Nice to see your confidence. I don't have it. What have they been planning exactly? Wherever I look I see nothing but unanswered questions: Driver, manager, designer. By now you'd think they would have made some announcement about who is replacing the current dream team.

All I see is a new dream team being assembled at Red Bull. All I know is that the current Ferrari team will retire soon.

Wouldn't it be difficult to announce MS replacing Todt if he were still driving through the end of this year and possibly next?

What aspects of Todt's job/contribution to the team do you feel are over MS's head?

Any. MS is a driver, not a manager.

Even a super brain like the professor (Prost) failed miserably. Or the much heralded Stewart never went far with his team. Fittipaldi tried and failed. The list is endless. Different career paths.

Or look at it the other way round: Who made great team managers? Guys who weren't really good at driving like Ecclestone and Todt.

I am with you on the Prost failure but I have a feeling MS has a much deeper skill set than Prost (management skills). Granted its more a feeling than anything based in fact but MS impresses me as someone who is always thinking, is not afraid of change, is a good communicator and motivator, and someone who is organized. With the exception of team management experience he is more than half way there IMO.

MS has said on a few occasions when he's done driving, he's done with F1 something about hating the politics. Why would anyone think he'd be running Ferrari then? Unless the next driver gets the entire team behind really fast the key players will probably all retire and the team will be mess again for while. It's bound to happen, there is no preparing for it.
