Can anyone advise me how to put these horrible seals in ( pn # 137249).
Friction plates just been relined as it was slipping due to oil on them. plates outside tolerance 7.25mm (5.5mm and 6.5mm)
I ordered 6 seals just in case and I have now stretched 3 of them. Tried with and without Boiling them in water! Better get it right with this 3. Does anyone have a picture of a tool to fit them (ferrari tool AV 2122?) and/or an idiots guide to fit them for an Irish man!

O.K. Here is the instruction manual in Irish

    1) start slow by pouring the guinness stout very slowly in the mug. It will take a full 5 minutes to properly fill your mug. If you fill to fast you will have to drink the spillage without taking a breath and start again.
    2) boil some water
    3) Drink the properly filled Guinness
    4) drop the rings in the water now not on the stove
    5) have another guinness
    6) use two thumb nails to force one ring onto the shafts by hand. it is O.K. if it ballons out when the ring is in the land
    7) have another guinness
    8) put on another ring
    9) have another guinness. The two rings should look like **** on the shaft but you will not care so....
    10)have another guinness
    11) put on the last ring
    12) go to the bathroom so you can have another guinness
This will give some time for the rings to relax into the lands. Yup with time the rings actually look better and its not the guinness talking. Still they are not quite fully seated.
    13) push the shaft back in No-No the input shaft.... you should have put the other shaft back in before you had the last guinness
    14) The shaft will actually compress the rings as you slide them back in
    15) have another guinness you are done.

Don't question the sealing ability of these seals. No matter what you do they do not work. Thus the Billybob modified and lightened clutch but thats another story.

If you are having trouble with the seals I know your next email will be how to bleed the clutch. There is also a Ferrari dumb trick for that.

You spouted off measurements in your thread. I assume you measured the compressed and un compressed thickness of the plates? If you are not within spec it won't work. Don't assume the rebuilder read the specs they rarely do but I bet the surfaces look nice.....

I was thinking that maybe I'd one day try to slip one seal onto a tube made of a rolled up piece of paper, then slide the paper tube down the shaft to the point next to the seal drop, then slide the seal from the paper onto the shaft...

...but the rolled up paper started reminding me of a straw, so I sucked down the Guinness through it and didn't care about the seals anymore.
