Ok all, I hate to bring in movie sounds bites etc. BUT.... Have any of you seen Bad Boyz II??? They have two really good car chase scenes in a 550/575 (sorry for my ignorance on the model) but during the chase scenes the car sounds a lot like my 355... Not having heard a 5xx not sure if it was just a sound bite or actual sound??? I think it is scene #6.. There is a good chase then a big shoot out and then a really good car chase.. Anyhow thought I would ask... Thanks....
Well I don't own the movie so I can't check for you but did you notice that they kept switching a 550 and a 575M back and forth. When they did all the burn outs, it was the 550 but the 575M did all the close ups. I figured the stunt driver couldn't do all the stunts with the F1 tranny and had to resolve to the old trusted 6-speed.
The sound was probably dubbed with a F355 soundtrack, which they resorted to since the 550/575 stock exhaust is so quiet. There is NO WAY you can make the 12 cylinders sound like the 8 cylinders. The laws of physics dictate against it - the number of cylinders, the crank angle between each firing, the pressure waves in the exhaust manifolds, not to mention the rpm range.... these are so totally different that a 60° V12 will NEVER sound like a flat-crank, 90° V8.
Yes, the audio is from a 355. Andrea, no need to analyze the engineering traits, a search of the board would have sufficed!
" no way to sound like an 8 cylinder" That being said, a 550 with Capristo exhaust sounds absolutley awsome. I cannot turn the car on in a parking lot without everyone instantly turning to see what is making that noise. John
the 575M was an individual's, used for the stand-in scenes and slow driving where the car wouldn't take damage. the 550 was used for the stunt scenes, and it was Michael Bay's personal Ferrari. Similar to the first movie where they used his personal 911 Turbo (they didn't have the budget to rent a car!!!) so you are not confused, both cars are present in the movie
Here's one of the car chase scenes with the 550/575 (the big one) It indeed sounds like an 355. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uewunUm7e1s Also found a pretty nice compilation (Music video) of Bad Boys 2 with AC/DC Thunderstruck as background music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mT1KCiSLcHc ENJOY !
