Did you sell????
It's hard for me to grasp the sales tax people pay when they buy cars. I have lived in Montana al my life we don't have a sales tax on anything here. Wow 17,000.00 in taxes on one purchase, crap that sucks. Don't get me wrong I believe in supporting the system we use it's just hard to take that hit. regards, vern Edit: sorry should have quoted the last post on page one.
And you still want to row a stick shift. You flew with auto pilot for how many hours but you don't like an F-1 ???? Still Puzzled. Mario
One's work and the other is play. Are you arguing for cruise control in a Ferrari? Actually, if the fates allow, I'll give the F1 system a serious try with the Pista. Gary
Anyone getting the sense that the number of available used Challenge Stradale has decreased significantly? Looking at FML, E-Bay, FerrariAds.com and the Ferrari North America listings, there are slim pickings. Maybe its just prime driving season in most of the US (not as much here in Arizona!!) and the supply will increase as Falll and Winter decend upon us.
Car is a stunner -- great color combo, and everyone loves a stradale w/ the stripe! BUT...and I hate to be the naysayer here...I believe you're going to be hard pressed to get over sticker on an '04 stradale. Obviously there's an ahz for every seat at every price, but my understanding of the market is that stradales are well south of $200k these days... Either way, best of luck with the sale!
you may be right about prime driving season, but if you really look around and ask around too, there are a lot of cars that either are, or COULD be available. I bet if you were offering $214 you could find plenty....
DISCLAIMER: I own a CS and it's listed for sale at $214,000. Sticker was just south of $207,000 with $2800 added in film protection, skid plate, floor mats and Stradale hat, which would bring it close to $210,000 as new. Stradale market reminds me Porsche 1998 C2S (993 with turbo body). 1998 was end of the run for 993, in which there were 993 cars built. They could be bought new for a discount. Impossible now to find a good example. Available models have Tiptronic, or only 17" wheels vs Turbo wheels, or weak colors, horribly modified or limited options, high miles etc or worst of all A STORY. It took the market a while to realize C2S was very limited production and a special car. Bottom line, one does not see very many C2S cars for sale. My old C2S became available this week and I bought it sight unseen. Silver/Black, 18", 6,000 mi, Motorsound, rare computer, i.e. well optioned. I'll never let it go again. I think many CS owners are of the same frame of mind. They recognize they have a keeper. Re. Price. Yes, $214,000 is top dollar and then some. But it's asking price. Have you ever bought a car for asking price. No, we all figure the seller will come off his asking price. So, sellers pad their asking price. This is not rocket science. Re. The Stripe. I think there are about 35 in the USA. Buying my first house in CA, I compared two like houses at $72K and $125K. $72 was in Irvine. $125 was on the water in Newport Beach. 35 years later, $72 is worth $400. $125 is worth SEVEN million. This Kansas boy didn't see the value at the time. Not a pure analogy, but maybe not far off. Anyway, it's fun to talk Stradale. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Gary, I just want to chime in with two statements: 1- Thank you for your service to our country. 2- That is a wonderful car, and frankly, I would be interested but like you, I think the CS is too much for my street driving habits. I am sure someone will come forth who appreciates the rarity and condition of your fine vehicle. Happy Fourth of July! best regards, Jerry
Jerry, Doug Kennedy, Derby KS. I think my countach is sold. Would you be willing to make a Kansas boy 's dream come true. Would you be willing to take $200,000.00 for your car. I'm at the library using the pc but please call if you have any questions. Thanks. Doug and Shari Kennedy 316-788-5967, Derby, KS. 67037.
Gary, I apoligize for the typo error. I typed Jerry instead of Gary. Thanks. Doug Kennedy 316-788-5967.
Hi Doug, Thanks for your offer. It is reasonable given the pricing of cars that are available. You would however be #6 in the que at $200,000. From my point of view, the question a buyer for this car needs to resolve in his own mind is: do all the features, 1650mi, full black leather interior, stripe, no track time, protective wrap, skid plate, yellow calipers, radio, no stories, all original items included ($500 car cover kept by previous owner, but replaced by dealer), in other words, a car with no shortcomings, is all that worth a 5% premium. One Kansas farm boy (Great Bend, KS) to another, my rock bottom dollar is $210,000. Some will say that is too much. I didn't think so four months ago and still don't. I'm not a real motivated seller. I have visions of keeping both the CS and forthcoming 430 Spider and just this week got back my prima 6,000 mile C2S I mistakenly sold four years ago. I recognize it will take a motivated buyer to pay $210,000. Ride the combine, walk the wheat fields, marvel at those magnificent cumulo nimbus clouds, sit with friends for a coffee and search your soul. The right decision will come to you. I wonder if the Betty Ford Center, The Meadows, Canyon Ranch or some other addiction treatment center has a program for us??
Thanks Gary for the information. Believe me, I would do the $210,000.00 if I could. I would be willing to meet around the halfway mark. Please call me if you have any questions. Thanks. Doug Kennedy 316-788-5967.
Hey Nerd, my local best friend is famous for treating Betty Ford's drinking problem at the White House and assisting with her Center start up. Name is Dr. Joe Pursch. He cleaned up Billy Carter and a slew of other celebs and politicians. Jimma spent a whole afternoon and evening with Joe at the White House to show his appreciation. Joe has no idea I have these cars and I'm not telling him for fear of an intervention. After looking at your lovely garage, perhaps I should pass on your phone number to Joe. You need help, fella.
I appreciate your interest and your offer. $205K would put you in a que with just one person ahead of you. Negotiations can be maddening. One never wants to overpay and one wants to feel like they have discovered the sellers bottom dollar. I'm kind of a simple straight forward guy. So rather than work to get as much as the other guy "might" pay, I'm just laying it out for the community to see. No games. No mystery. $210k. Maybe there is a buyer somewhere for that number, someone with a collectors mentality, and maybe not. At any rate, you are a gentlemen and I appreciate your offer.
The first step is admitting you have a problem, right? My wife was asked by one of her friends, "Why does you husband need more than one Ferrari?" My wife in turn asked her friend, "Why do you need 20 pairs of shoes?" I've come to accept my addiction and think your CS would look fine next to the 430 and the Porsche.......just me! Cheers!
214k is TOTALLY WORTH IT. I'd give him 225k as soon as someone gives me 278k on my $208k 430 with 4600 miles. Serious offers only.
Yes, the supply of Stradales does seem to be shrinking. Only four for sale in the US, listed on auto trader, all between $198-202K, compared with seventy-four 360 modenas and spiders, and thirty-four 430s. No CSs for sale in Canada. Is it reasonable for Gary to hold out for his asking price? Seems so for several reasons; -- the CS is increasingly recognized as a collector car, selected as an 'investment' car by CNN moneyline -- the CS offers a lot of performance for the buck, and with more visceral ferrari spirit, when compared to highly priced 430s -- motivation for current CS owners to jump to a 430CS -- suggesting a rise in supply and reduced price of CSs -- is currently on hold as we watch to see how ferrari deals with pressure to accelerate its next generation platform for 2008 delivery of the new model. Hail to the chief!
For only having listed on Ferrari-Chat and two FML editions, there has been an amazing amount of interest in this CS. After tracking CS market prices, and after discussions with Ferrari owners with a collector mentality, I've concluded this collector quality example is actually underpriced (at $210,000). I may re-list the car at $219,000 and include one of my Schumi life size portraits or other art as a kicker. See art at: http://web.mac.com/garybarnhill105/iWeb/Site/Photos.html IMHO, the car alone justifies a $215,000-$220,000 price. Reality is, not many buyers have a collector outlook and want a striped low-mile car for about the same price as higher mile non-striped cars. It will be interesting to see if the Beverly Hills Black/default interior (no stripe) with 2900 miles will bring the $215,000 ask price. At this point, IMHO, the stripe may be worth a $10,000 premium. It is the only stripe car for sale, plus low miles and all black leather iterior, etc. I inquired with an excellent Ferrari paint shop and they said the decal costs $1200 and a first class installation with clear coat could exceed an additional $7000, so buying a non-stripe CS and putting in on yourself is no bargain, assuming you want a factory clear coat look.
Thanks Senna, it's virtually a brand new car. Below are Schumacher actual life size paintings, either one of which is included with the purchase of the CS (or buyer may choose from other paintings in my collection) Note: We felt the bright blue background was too overwhelming and reduced the size of the painting when it was framed by eliminating a bit of left side of painting. Noticeable when you compare the amount of F1 car shown. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
