    Hi guys,
It's time to change out the gaskets for my engine and gearbox pans on my 88 Mondial. I have the new gaskets and was wondering if you need to put any kind of silicone sealant on them. Any tips to help prevent any more drips than I have now will be appreaciated. I know the topic of regular oil vs. synthetic has been flogged to death already but I think I will put regular oil in this time since my drips seem worse with the synth in.

Does anybody understand the above question? I don't mean to get pissy but I didn't ask for step by step instructions on rebuilding the whole car. LOL

I used a thin smear (both sides of the gasket) of Permatex Ultra Black on my 308- no problems in so far.

    Thanks jwise,
I seem to remember doing the same to a FIAT 850 spider I had when I was younger except the gasket was a two piece deal that always leaked no matter how much permatex you put on. I just wasn't sure about the F-car and don't want to have to do it twice. Thanks again!
